Day 28 - Black Mountain Rag - Patti Kusturok's 365 Days of Fiddle Tunes chords
Start Jamming...
Hi, it's day 23 or day 28 of Patty Kusrock's 365 Days of Fiddle Tunes.
I'm home alone,
which barely ever happens [A] here.
So I thought I'd cross tune again to C sharp, A, E, A
tuning.
And this isn't a Métis [B] tune, but it is a tune [Eb] that's been around for a long
time.
Yesterday I did the Black Mountain or the Blue Mountain two-step, or it's also called
the Blue Mountain Rag.
And I fumble with the name because I always think Black Mountain
Rag.
So I never want to call the Blue Mountain one a rag because I think I'm referring to
this one.
But today is Black Mountain Rag Day.
And this is a tune that I learned from
Winston Simpson.
Winston was a legendary Manitoba fiddle player.
He went to all the contests.
And when he met me, he met me at the Garden City contest that I talked about before, which
happened probably in 1977 was the year, 78, somewhere around there.
I was seven years
old and he was there.
And he kind of took me under his wing and got me out playing in
front of people shortly after that.
So Winston [A] Simpson, this is for you.
[Bm] And I know you're
watching from somewhere.
And here's the Black Mountain Rag that you taught me way back when.
