David Gilmour talks about his Black Strat chords
Start Jamming...
Hello, hello, hello, is [A] there anybody in there?
[G] Just nod if you can hear [Em] me.
[Bm] Is there anyone at home?
I got it from Manny's, I believe, in 1970.
[A] Whenever I was in New York, I'd go and see Henry in Manny's.
[G] [Em] Look at guitars.
[Bm] Must have gone to Manny's around then and picked up a Black Strat.
Relax, relax, I [A] need some information first.
[G] Just the [Em] basic facts.
[Bm] Can you show me where it hurts?
[D] There is no pain you are [A] receiving.
[D] The distance shifts more [A] on the horizon.
[C] You are only coming [G] through in waves.
Over the years there's been a lot of [C] requests for this instrument.
So it's good actually to get [G] it out there to the people who want to play it.
To make sure that it [D] actually is a really faithful reproduction of his.
[A] David was very happy with everything about it.
The [D] playability, the feel, the shape of the neck, the sound of the pickups, [A] the way the trim worked.
Very, very good.
[C] Now I've got that feeling [G] once again.
I can't explain, you [C] will not understand.
This is not [G] how I am.
[A] That I
[C] [G] have become [D] comfortably numb. I am.
[Bm]
[A] [G] [Em]
[Bm]
[Bm] [A] [F#] [G] [Bm]
People have been asking me about this guitar, it seems like forever.
The only way to get [A] a really faithful reproduction [F#] that David would be happy with in terms of the [G] feel and the setup and the sound of [Em] it and all the adjustments
was to [Bm] actually take the real guitar over to the [B] custom shop and spend a few days with Todd going over every detail.
It was [A] utterly just [C#m] amazing.
This overwhelming [G] sense of just history and [Em] the past just being [Bm] surrounded by it.
[A] [G] [Em]
[B] [Bm] [B]
[A] [G] [Em]
[Bm]
[A] [G] [E]
[Bm] We have [F#] checked all the pickups, we've been through dozens of [A] different pickups and compared [G] them directly to mine
to [Em] find a pickup combination [Bm] that sounds as much like or a bit better than mine in some cases.
[A] [B] The neck pickup on this one is actually better [G] than mine and I might stick one [Em] of them in mine.

[B] They've done a fantastically good job to make it as good as I wanted it to be.
We've worked quite hard on it, it's taken a while just to get every part of it done right.
[F] [G]
[N]
Great tune.
Good runs.
Thank you.
