[C]
Welcome to the new song cafe at worship together calm today.
We're here with the David [F] Crowder bands listening to their song
[C] Oh great love of God, so sit back and enjoy this new song cafe
David and Mark welcome guys.
Hey, thanks for having us.
It's great to be here with you
Listen to some new songs from a brand new David Crowder band record
Give us rest a requiem and see and it's really interesting as I was listening to through this album
There's sort of this movement in the church back to sort of the liturgical
Movement and and even in my church, which is a you know, come it's just a Baptist Church
But yeah, you know
We've kind of went back to some of those elements and walking through pieces of the service that are really meaningful to people
And talk a little bit about that, especially this song is more hymn-like
as well as some of the other songs on the record but talk a little bit about the theme of the liturgy and also
Kind of where the song came from because I know you wrote this with our friend Matt Marr
Absolutely, and who hails from the Catholic Church, you know, which is all things liturgical
Well, and we had to I had to have him down to Waco to consult on this thing, you know
Make sure we didn't upset anyone
Annihilate tradition in some sense.
So yeah, [N] he spent about three days at my place in Waco, Texas and
Wound up what I wanted to have him help me do is just to get the outline and the form that we were going to
write into all polished up make sure we weren't gonna do anything wrong as I say, so to speak and
After we that happened then before we even got to dinner
So we're like well, we're done with that now what and so we went ahead and started writing and just had a blast
I haven't written
With many people at all outside of our band.
So it's been a very, you know cloistered little thing and
It was it was amazing to have him step into it and
This was one of the first songs that that came or actually that's not true
We had had mark had a start on this one this one that he had sent me a chorus to and so I was playing
Some of the things that we'd already kind of messing with because we started organizing things.
I realized oh
We already have a Saint tooth, which is what this one started as this was started as the the chorus
I think was just straight.
It's like the Holy Lord God of heaven and earth
Yeah, I think it was just pretty much straightforward that and it's it's really so it's what's all that that one
We need to we need to retool this and this one wound up falling in a section that has Agnus Dei in it
So the the chorus is pretty much, you know that straight up and
Yeah, so it was fun.
I had a little co-write.
Yeah Mars stepping in the Crowder band for a little bit
I wanted to just join permanently, but it's like you're processing I can't do that
Well great man you guys play the song
[G#] [G#m] [E] [B]
[F#] [G#] [G#m] [E] [B]
[F#] [G#m] [E] Victim [B] of our
[F#] sacrifice
[G#m] Give [E] the love [B] of [F#] perfect [G#m] life
All [E] for we [B] were right
[F#] [G#m] All [E] for we [B] were right
[F#] [E] [B] Great [F#] love God
Take [E] away the sin
[B] of [F#] all of us
Don't [E] forever have done [B] [F#] Why
If [E] [B] [G#m]
[F#] [E] [B] [G#m]
[F#] [G#m] [E] [B] you're
[F#] watching [N] closely you'll want to watch Mars hands on that
[G#] Yeah
That's the beauty but we made this this record was like 34 tracks long and it's just it's a lot to [E] keep in your head
Yeah, and these are all brand new
I mean you guys have we have some of these got out way into live a [C#] lot of them have it
Yeah, the difference in this record than any that we've had in the past
We've most of the times the records are sort of retrospective collections of things that we've had existing in our church
But the way the nature of this one since we had to write this whole
Deal this vehicle that we were riding into it was it's yeah, it's kind of a different world.
We're like, oh no
How do we get out tons of songs that we've never sat in a room [E] and played together?
It's so cool.
There's a bridge section to this song as well.
Once you guys play through that
starts on the floor
[B] [F#] This is [E] not a death this is [B] us way
[G#m] Back [E] to the line
[B] [F#]
[E] [B] And [G#m] [F#]
then [B] back into the course, yeah
Now before we get into the chords on it, we'll let everybody know that you're tuned a half step down
So before they get frustrated and yeah and leave us from the from the computer [G#m] screen
So walk through
What your place the key?
I see the key of C and which just [E] starts on the on [G#m] the minor a minor [E] and then goes to F [B] and C
[F#] And then G and that's your that's your [G#m] verse just over and over even even on the reprises.
Yeah, so it's [E] victim
[B] [F#] [G#m] And on the F you're [E] leaving your your pinky down, yeah
Reaching [B] around and grabbing [E] this one and I've got the bass with the thumb here
So yeah, [G#m] second fret [F#] there and the third fret on the pinky [E] finger
so that's it [G#] on on [G#m] the
[E] verse and then for the choruses starts on the [F#] from the goes from the G at the end of the verse [E] the
[B] [F#] So [B] just F [E] C and [B] G
[F#] And in the bridge, there's [E] quite a few quite a few
Changes and it gets a little silly right at the end
But it's it's still all you're still working with all of the same chords
It's just the movement of when to go to what but it's a this is not a song
This is so certain F.
[B] This is a revival C [F#] a revival.
So that's your first little sequence of chords.
It does [E] that [B] again?
[F#] I'm
Listen out [E] of there.
This [B] is us waking.
This [F#] is a return
[G#m] That's where it gets company.
I heard back to life.
So it goes to the the a minor on
This is a [E] return back to life to the F
[B] And [F#] then it goes there.
So this is the trick then [E] it goes back to the four [G#m] right and then see a [F#] minor G
So the [G#m] first time through it [E] starts on the name
[B] [F#] The second [E] time it starts on the F [B]
[G#m] C [F#] so [N] that's
all the movement in him to get his keep and if you can't remember all that just look a little bit left of the video
Screen and we'll have the lyrics and chords on the website
As you got them all there it's [F] just which order to [G] play it.
Yeah guys, thanks so much for coming by
