Dan Tamiskey!
[N] What about it?
Your guest tonight has been on tour this year with Willie Nelson.
He has one of the most recognizable voices in all of bluegrass and country music.
Would you please make welcome the man of constant sorrow himself.
Dan Tamiskey.
So you know what?
I think it's wild that you sound just like George Clooney when you sing.
That's crazy.
I have heard that.
I don't hear that.
I look like him a lot.
But yes I sound like him some.
So you're sitting at home just get a call.
They want you to come sing man of constant sorrow.
How did that work?
You know the Coen brothers and T-Bone Burnett were looking to cast some music for the background music of that movie.
So Allison and Union Station the band that I'm currently with we're in that pool to try out.
And after we were there they had mentioned that they had still yet to cast George Clooney's voice.
And our manager at the time said give Dan a shot.
And they said yeah you want to come back tomorrow and audition.
And I actually thought it was kind of strange in my mind.
I don't hear myself sounding necessarily like I hear George Clooney talking.
But I thought it would be kind of cool to go back and audition for it.
And I sang for those guys and they said we'll call you.
Which I thought meant get the heck out of here.
You're done kid.
They've done that to us before.
But I did.
I got a call back the next day and they said we'd like you to sing this part.
Wow.
Well I'll tell you what they couldn't have picked anybody any better for that part.
That is a clue.
That is a clue.
That is a clue.
Good idea.
You've been with Alice and Crafts and Union Station 23 years is that right?
I joined the band 23 years ago.
It's hard to imagine.
Wow.
What's in the works for you guys?
What's up for Dan Tominski coming up?
For Dan Tominski coming up, well we're always, we always are working on the next record.
And it's been a little while for us since we've recorded.
So we're in the process now of doing our next one.
And giving us a reason to get on that tour bus again this next coming year.
And tour with a new record.
I want to ask you one more question.
The CMA's when you were there, didn't they put somebody on your tail?
That you're supposed to be like your
When you do some of those bigger award shows, it's very funny, they assign you a person.
That's what I'm talking about.
They assign you a person to make sure that you don't wander off and get lost and you know,
and you know looking for a french fry or something and catering.
And I like to smoke cigars.
So I found that that person was forever going wait where did he go, where did he go?
I know where he went, he's outside smoking that dang cigar again.
It's really weird to have someone on your tail like that.
I don't know if that's the most comfortable thing for me.
Watching what you do or to be all mic'd up like we are now.
Cause you know, you all know we'll go backstage and talk about everything we don't love.
Someone's recording somewhere.
Oh yeah.
But I'll be on my best behavior.
I'll tell you what, if we could sell recordings of what we all do talk about backstage,
it would probably sell millions of recordings.
It'd be worth a laugh.
It'd get us in trouble, it'd be worth a laugh.
Someone could do that.
That's a reality show that I think could follow up this show right now.
There we go.
This could grow into something bigger.
Oh wow.
I don't know if you want to hear it.
Yeah, Daly and Vincent, the real truth.
Thanks for being here.
So happy to get to do it.
Thank you guys for having me.
Thank you so much.
Ladies and gentlemen, the great Dan Femiski.
That is beautiful.
Yes.
Thank you very much.
Stay tuned.
We might do [F] some more chicken in the kitchen and see what we've got going on with Spring Mountain Farms chicken.
We'll be right back.
