Welcome to musicwithryan.com again.
Today's lesson is going to be the song Cripple Creek, and I have a very
straight ahead
arrangement beginning the intermediate version for you with a little bit of syncopation in the beat part just to kind of keep you on your
toes.
So let's go ahead and give a listen to the arrangement and see what you think and then we'll walk through the lesson.
[F#] [D]
[F#] [G#m] [A]
[F#] [B]
[F#m] [A]
[C#] [C] [A]
[F#] [A]
[F#] [B]
[A]
[F] [Em] [A]
All right, so as you see
pretty straightforward [G] arrangement and
we're gonna break through, we're gonna break down this
song measure by measure for you and go close up to the left and right hand real slow so you know exactly what's going on.
There's a little bit I've seen a Tony Rice lick, you know an obtainable
Tony Rice lick in there a little bit and
so yeah, if you like what you see at ACID you go over to my website musicwithryan.com and
you can purchase the full-length lesson about 15 to 20 minutes
me walking through measure by measure of
this song and the tabs are on the screen even you can print out the tabs that come with it and you get some backing
tracks in the full-length lesson, of course.
And you can check out my ebook I got over there that I put so much time into I'm very proud of my ebook.
So let's go ahead and start walking through this song measure by measure.
Thanks for your support and please subscribe to my page if you're digging these lessons.
Alright, [A] so here we go.
Okay, so [D#] let's go ahead and dive into this tune.
It's [Am] not it's not a very long tune.
So some of these themes are gonna repeat themselves and
[Em] you know, it's a must-know for a [A] jam
jam situation.
Got my capo on the second fret here.
We were playing out of G position [Am] and of course actually in the key of A.
Make sure
the markings on the bottom of the staff there are the pick directions and we've got some hammer-ons and pull-offs and slides in this one
so you really got to be careful and
then if there's numbers on top of the staff that's
suggested fingering for the left hand.
One two, three four.
Again suggested, you know, there's different ways you can do it, but I have it written there
because my arrangement the way I've written the arrangement
I think that [D#] using those fingers will be the most efficient for achieving these arrangements.
So
I'm gonna go ahead and play you the
first line there starts on beat four and
I'm gonna play through it real slow.
So like one two three
[F#m] [A] [F#m]
[E] [D]
[E] [C#m]
Do that again [F#]
one two three
[F#m] Okay, [A]
[F#m] [E]
[C#m] [D] [E]
[D#]
so I'm using my second and third finger here on the high E
[A] then hammer
[F#m] and then it's upstroke.
So you got two upstrokes [G#] in a row again the hammer-on or the pull-off
takes place of a pick stroke and then you'll often find
that you will do a double down or a double up in this case [A] a double up.
[G#m] Up.
[E] So my [B] pick kind of still went down
but I didn't obviously hit the note I hammered it on.
Sometimes I can I do that to keep my timing.
[G#]
[B] [F#m] [A]
[F#m] Okay, [Bm] so again the hammer-on or pull-off takes place of a pick stroke.
[A]
[F#m] [E] Quarter notes here [C#m] and then a [D] pull-off.
So we have a double down situation now.
[E] Not my best [D] pull-off there and [F#] [E] [F#]
[D#m] then kind of back into it.
[D]
[E] Pull-off straight [A] down.
[C#m]
[D] [F#m] [E]
[D] [A] [D]
[F#] [E] [D#] Okay
[A] [F#m] [D#]
And it ends on upstroke on the second fret of the high E.
[Am]
All right, moving on the the next two measures in the A part
