Hey everyone, it is [C] Dan here from [B] Playlicksnow.com. I've got a great lick for you [A] today in the [C#m] style of
BB [E] King and this lick can be played [A] over a blues in [C#] A.
[E] Now as always I'll be [D] demonstrating this lick [C] with the tab and [B] notation on screen.
Now a quick note [A] about the on-screen tab and notation.
Use it purely as a guide.
You [C#m] don't have to follow it [E] strictly.
By that [A] I mean I've got [C#m] the lick starting [E] on halfway through beat one of the first bar.
[B] However, this lick doesn't always have to start on that particular beat.
You can [A] start the lick
half a beat [B] before the first bar.
You can start [A] the lick halfway through the [C#m] bar.
It really doesn't [D] matter.
[D#] Your aim is to get [B] the notes under your fingers, get the feel of the lick under your fingers and then [A] experiment with
[C#m] where it sounds good [E] while you're jamming over a [D] blues in A.
[Dm] [B] Now that also goes [A#] for the overall [A] rhythm of [C#m] the lick.
You can play [E] notes a bit quicker or a bit [F#] slower and
[A] also in terms [C#m] of
[E] embellishing the lick.
You can add in [D] notes.
You can repeat
[C] particular [B] phrases within the lick.
[A] You can [D] displace the rhythms.
[C] All that sort of [B] thing.
So when I [F#] demonstrate this lick, I'll start [A] off by playing it pretty [C#m] much as written [E] and then as [F#] I play it over and over
[A] again, I'll start to [C#m] embellish on the lick.
[E] I will
displace it rhythmically just to give you ideas on [B] the potential of what you can do with these [D] simple few notes.
[Dm] [B] Now I'll be [A#] demonstrating this lick [A] over a blues in [C#m] A backing track.
[D] There'll be a link to that [D#] backing track at the end of the [B] video as well as in the description below.
So I encourage you to, after you've learnt this lick, [A] click on the link and have some fun jamming over that backing track.
