Balcony TV!
[E]
[Em] Hi, hi, hi, welcome to Balcony TV Melbourne.
My name is Greg.
[D] I'm standing here with the fabulous, the excellent and the
outstanding Cookie Baker.
How are we feeling today Cookie?
[Dm] Fabulous!
Yeah, nice.
You gonna play a song for us?
Yeah.
Yeah, what's it called?
It's called
Words to [Eb] Keep.
It's all yours.
Cool.
Thanks, man.
[C]
[F] [D]
[C]
[F] [A]
We'll [C] blame it on the early spring.
[F] Their house was gone with everything.
You'll come down from the mountain with a kiss goodnight.
I'm [C] still the same girl I was then.
[F] No, not a day past seventeen.
But I should probably know [F] by now.
[D]
[Dm] [F]
You [C]
know I will never change.
I'm too set in my ways.
[C] See I'm just a little girl [F] and you're not the one for me.
[D] The building's grown with weight unseen.
[F] The heat of the day still simmering.
[D] This poetry is too much for me.
You [F] know ending [F] is inside.
[Dm] But every time [F] I decide it's too complicated.
[C] I can find a reason that [Am] I'm running out of fingers to count [Dm] on and you don't see me [F] when I am [Am]
alone.
[C]
[Dm] No, you don't see me [F] when [A] I'm on [C] my own.
Secret show it's not serious [F] but I'm stuck like glue [C] to the possibility of our [F] surprise ending.
[C] Don't you wanna fight it [F] out like you would have done three years [C] ago?
Don't you wanna know where we [F] can go next darling?
[Dm]
I will pull [F] this wool over my [C] eyes.
I'll knit [Am] myself a closet made of lies.
[Dm] So you will never see, no, [F] you will never see [A] just how [Am] much apart [C] you were of me.
[Dm] So you won't see [F] just what you were to me.
[C]
[E] [C]
[C]
[Eb] Thank you.
[N] Wow that was awesome where did that come from?
Um, ah [Am] right so [N] um I broke up with this dude and that song [Eb] came out.
It's beautiful.
Spirited out.
Yeah that was fantastic.
Thank you.
[D] No.
That was great.
Hey I want to have a natter about what's coming up this week.
Yes.
[D] November 3rd. Yeah.
Writing side set.
Yeah.
Yeah can [E] you tell me a bit about that?
Sure it's right here at the Prince.
And it's basically a sweet ass lineup of Melbourne female artists.
They're yeah all from Melbourne except for Faye Blais who's from Canada but she's practically
an adopted Melbournian anyway.
And yeah so Our Lives is headlining who's fabulous and um Gosling and [B] there's uh Private
Life who are an awesome local band as well.
[N] Faye Blais from Canada, myself and Emily Allman who's beautiful.
So this sounds like an epic lineup for Thursday night.
Yeah I know.
And it's like it's on um is it Oaks Day which I think is traditionally like Ladies Day.
Yeah so it's on Ladies Day as well this big chick event.
It's gonna be cool.
Yeah nice nice.
Doors open 8pm here at the Prince.
Doors do open at 8pm yeah [Eb] it's um $19 I believe.
That is super super awesome.
I know it's gonna be rad.
Yeah nice.
One other thing I want to talk about is [E] um is is is [F] sort of your different approach to
to a live gig where [N] you bring in like a little bit of maybe burlesque or theatrical.
Like yeah [C] definitely gets um theatrical but like with um yeah the more cabaret stuff.
Because I kind of swing from um [Ab] really sort of melancholy kind of chilled out [D] indie folk
like that I guess and then I just kind of go into this kind of bombastic fantastic stupid
[Eb] tongue-in-cheek very silly um it's like a lot of the [A] songs do actually cross over but
it's kind of [E] like an exaggerated version of the same gear and just yeah [C] you know it doesn't
like take itself too seriously and I like to be really silly [D] with it and have fun with
the audience and I like to chat obviously so.
Yeah anything bombastic fantastic sits well with me.
You like that yeah cool.
Yeah I was into that [G] yeah.
Hey thanks very much for coming along today Cookie Break. That's alright.
That was impressive yeah.
Thanks man.
