That's Conor Oberst.
And this is Phoebe Bridgers.
And you're watching Billboard.
I thought you were going to say that.
We met [A] in LA at [Bb] an [B] event.
An event?
An event called the Swampy Soiree.
At the bootleg.
Now a thing of a legend.
I played and Jim James and Gillian Welch.
[Gb] And our mutual friend Kyle [A] said that there was his favorite songwriter in LA.
This [Bm] person named Phoebe Bridgers and could she play the show.
And we said, sounds great.
[Fm] And she played and that was the first time I heard her sing.
And [D] I was totally blown away by that experience.
[A] And [G] yeah.
[B] And then I mixed my record in Omaha [Gbm] with his friend Mike Moges.
And Conor sang [A] on my album.
[B] And then we went on tour.
I opened for you in Europe.
Yeah.
And then we decided [Gbm] to form a band.
[B]
That's it.
I [D] love Phoebe's whole debut album.
If I was to have to pick a [Gm] favorite, I would probably say [Dm] Funeral.
Because it's beautiful and [A] sad.
And I like [Dm] beautiful sad songs.
[A] I have many [Bb] favorites.
But [Am] I like this one [Bb] kind of deeper cut called Bad Blood.
Yeah.
Yeah.
[Dm] It's really cool.
[C] Because I like sad songs.
[Bb] Since we have both have a penchant for kind of, you know, [C] morose songwriting.
We thought like a sort of emo band name would be funny.
[F] And yeah, I think it encapsulates both the idea of some kind of impending doom.
But [G] since the word community is [F] in it, it's like, well, you're not alone in this.
We're all kind of in this thing together.
So I think it has a nice positive spin [Bb] on that.
I don't know.
What can fans expect?
[F] I don't know.
I think it's more fun than you'd expect.
I agree with that.
It's more fun than you'd expect.
And I don't know.
I think it's its own thing.
I think [Bb] that's another reason we wanted to [C] have a band name and [F] approach it as a different
its own project as opposed to like, you know, featuring [Bb] Connor or vice versa, that kind of thing.
Because I think it [C] has its own identity.
[F] We're super proud of the record.
We hope people listen to it.
Check it out.
