[E] My music lately [C#] has been actually [E] for the last 10 years since 1994 I [Em] started
working on my current [E] release When the Coast is Clear which is a nautical [C#] album
nautically inspired [E] totally nautical it's kind of oriented more towards like
Procol Arum I mean it's got some heavy lyrics and [C#] a lot of depth and [E] dynamics
and the best players I started it in a garage in [A] San Diego [E] then brought it to
Austin Texas [F#] finished that in Nashville [E] with the A-Team the best players we did
everything and it [C#] took approximately 10 [E] years to do it [E] and I'm very proud of it lyrically especially
Takes me back to my saving [C#] days
About the [E] spring before last I had an epiphany like [C#] I couldn't believe I
could [E] not stop writing and it's all nautical and a lot of party stuff and
this time it's definitely influenced me all over again as a writer I mean I
could not stop writing and all these songs have yet to be recorded I'm
[B] looking forward to using the talent we have down here [E] on this 2x5 island we
live on you know between two beautiful bodies of water and all this [D] talent and
I'm going to use it all
[F#m] [Bm] My background [F#m] began in Illinois where I grew up [G] spent my youth and hooked up
with a major band there and we had two mildly successful [G#] albums from that
[B] now Poco was [Bm] formed from the ashes [E] hate to use that word but of the Buffalo
Springfield Neil [F#] Young Steven Stills Richie Furet and Jim Messina and Furet
and Messina formed Poco
[A] well the first song I ever wrote which rose to the top
of the charts it kind of piggybacked its way up to the up the charts remember
when there were singles with the big holes in the middle well we had one out
in 78 called [F#] crazy love Poco crazy [G] love and on the B side of [F] that was bare [Bm] my
first nautical song which was Barbados [F] we're still doing it now 30 some years later
[C] [F]
[C] [F]
[Em] [F]
[Em] [Am]
[G] Cal and I, Cal [Am] David is coming down to Key West to join me and we're going to do a kind of a mild reunion
probably a cruise in February or March and he's also I'm going to try and get
him at the Green Parrot as well [E] he'd be perfect for that he's an excellent
blues [Dm] guitarist player probably one of my five favorite [Em] in the world but we hope to do a
mini reunion [F] all over the [Bm] country especially the major cities where we are
[Em] quite famous which is Chicago St.
Louis New York and LA so yeah we've got some
touring to plan yet but [A] looking forward to it
[Em] [C]
