Hello gang
Weather's getting warmer.
I
Get a lot of questions [Eb] about me.
What do you think about this guy?
What do you think about that guy?
You know players.
Well, I have to tell you first of all, I don't [B] listen to many guitar players.
I really don't
And I find that a lot of the newer players
They're struggling with playing the instrument, you know, they don't play the guitar that well
[Gb] You know, but you know, I don't [Abm] cut to me [Bm] that's [Ebm] I don't really
[D] Care that much what they have to say.
I mean when I hear somebody and I find them fighting the guitar
I grew up around a lot of violinists from the Philadelphia Orchestra and
You know, you had to know how to play the violin to get into that orchestra
Which really don't have to be a good guitar player to make a jazz record.
I don't understand
understand it I
Think that
You know, there's I don't think the instrument has caught up to George Van Epps yet
Okay, a real innovator guys like Joe Di Iorio Johnny Smith forget about it
You know that guy played beautifully.
He really could play the instrument, you know of all the newer guys
I don't he's not really a new guy anymore
Been around a long time.
It's Peter Bernstein.
I
Like his music a lot, you know, he plays very very melodic, you know, I often wonder whatever happens to melody everything sounds like
[Ab] [E] [A]
[D]
Can't play the goddamn [Fm] instrument Jesus Christ go get a lesson before you you know
And the other thing is, you know
Don't take my word for it.
You know, these are just my opinions
You know, I'm not right all the time what the hell the line
I mean that the only thing I can tell you is what I hear, you know, it's a lot of frauds out there
Speaking of unsung heroes, I know guy Tony DiCaprio
I think I'm like known for me over 40 years.
He has everything
He can play the guitar like play the instrument like nobody else
He can play very very melodic and he can also play outside
You know check him out every chance every chance you get [D]
so okay.
The [Gbm] rant is over
[Eb] Here's a tune that I really love written by John Coltrane Central Park West I think it goes like this
[Db] [B]
[E] [A] [Gbm]
[Bbm] [Ab]
[D] [E] [Am]
[Db]
[B] [E] [A]
[D] [Eb]
[B] [Gb]
[B]
[Db] [Gb]
[Eb] [B] B
[Em] E minor 7 [A] a 7 [D] D
Very cool changes [Bbm] B flat minor [F] 7 2 5 1 and a 5 flat 7 [Ab] a flat
Down a [D] half step G minor [C] C 7 [F] F
Back [Eb] to C sharp [Db] minor [B] B
again
[E] D [A]
[D] I [Eb] like to put the pedal
[Gb] to be cord as a C sharp minor
[Gb] [G]
[F] [Gb] Wonder what Coltrane's [Ebm] fascination with the key of B was
B again, [Bm] [Gm] maybe [Ab] it's a do-do-do thing.
All right, keep the questions coming, you know
You know if you asked me about a guitar player a certain guy like that and I don't say anything
That means I don't think much about him.
I shouldn't said that but too late now.
I'm not redoing
