Hey, welcome [B] to Chart Rewind.
I'm Kevin Kenney.
And I'm [G] Kevin Kenney.
Wait, no, I'm Chris Graba from Dashboard Confessional.
And you know, Chris, you've had an amazing career,
spending almost 17 years now, we said before.
But there was once upon a time
that you actually hit the Billboard charts
for the very first time.
Yeah.
Spring of 2002.
Do you remember the song?
I was screaming infidelities.
It was a shock.
So I thought it'd be fun to rewind the charts here today
and look back at the music video for that song.
Let's check it out.
All right, here it goes.
[C#] Okay, so that's me.
It looks just like me.
And I apparently am very seriously singing into this camera.
[A#m] [C#] Where'd you shoot this music video?
I shot it at a house in LA.
Everything was free.
We borrowed everything.
Couldn't afford to really shoot a music video.
I barely could afford the sideburns.
And [A#m] you know, that was the probably
the most expensive part of the shoot.
[G#] [C#] This actress was [A#m] lovely.
She was so much fun.
[C#m] I'd never done anything in front of a camera.
She [C#] made me feel totally comfortable.
She's really like experienced [A] at the time.
[C#] Oh yeah, so there we are playing inside the [A#m] same bar
where they shot Swingers, [F#] which I thought was [C#] neat.
That's probably like my favorite part of the [A#m] thing.
And this is some of my former bandmates,
and including on guitar is my buddy Mike,
who's in Rat-Tat-Tat, and then Dan Bonebrake and Mike Marsh.
It's kind of a different [G#] lineup now.
It's nice to look back and see these guys
that helped me out in the beginning
before I actually had found a band.
They were all kind of on loan and it was a fun [A#m] time.
[C#] I'm wearing a wristband there and it's Zero Skateboards
and my hero is Chris Cole.
He's a professional skateboarder.
It's funny, I still wear that wristband.
Nerdin' Out, Hero Worship.
I met him recently and felt like I was meeting
like Jimi Hendrix or something.

the race cars in there.
I'm not entirely sure who dressed me [A#m] for this,
but I do know that they put me in bell bottoms,
which I thought was a little [C#] strange.
And I think now it's even [C#] stranger.
I have a lot [A#m] of fans in Arkansas because of this T-shirt.
It [C#] says Arkansas is a natural.
I got [A#] lucky.
Oh, there she is writing a note.
That is a Dear John note, man.
That'll break your heart every time, huh?

It's only gotten worse.

My friend Maureen Egan.
She is fantastic.
And her husband, Matt, and they co-directed this video
and Saints and Sailors, and I think one more video,
I'm not entirely sure.
[D#] And the [C#] other actress made a brief cameo
in the Saints and Sailors video, which was neat.
There was no air conditioning in this room.
I thought my hair would melt.
It didn't, though.
It stayed [D#] where it was supposed to.
[C#] I was like, ooh, that guy's serious.
[C#] What's left?
I mean, look at these [D#] guys.
They know what they're doing.
They're going places [C#] someday.
Who knows?
Maybe do the charts for a minute, for half a minute.
Do you remember where you were
when you saw this on television for the first time?
Yeah, it was at my house.
My mom's house.
[A#m] I'd gone by my mom's house to collect a couple of [A] odds
and ends that I'd left there.
And I turned on the TV, [A] and five minutes later,
this thing came on.
I'm like screaming.
[G] There's nobody home.
I'm like, come look.
Who am I yelling at?
Nobody.
And there was.
