Well [N]
this is the first off the production line of the new Chieftain Custom.
I'll give you a bit of a look at it.
It's slightly different, well actually it's more than slightly different to the V5.
What we've done is we've extended the internal, what we call the insert, so it actually restricts
the air even more.
So that comes down a little bit further.
So we've actually compressed, which means you can really blow but it doesn't go over
the top sound wise.
We've also changed the collet, the tuning collet, we've actually made a nice chamfer
both ends so it just feels really nice.
There's no hard edges on it, it's just a continuous flow.
So this is the first one off the production line.
We're doing them with slightly scalloped holes for comfort so it's really comfortable.
We also have listened very closely to a lot of players who have bought and we have sold
so many of the V5s and sadly the second hole up on the V5s was a little bit too large.
[C] Great if you've got big pads but it's a little bit too large for people with really long
thin fingers and they were having [D#] trouble covering the holes.
So what we've done is completely changed the hole pattern on this, moved everything up,
reduced the size of the holes so we've increased the back pressure so you can really blow but
you can feel very clearly when you're playing, you can feel you've got loads of compression in there.
This is also helped by having smaller holes so just about anybody now could play one of
these and you're getting a kind of, if you know the Thunderbird they're kind of a big
rich tone and if you know the V5 they're kind of a very soft mellow tone.
This is kind of pitched somewhere right in the middle, this is giving you what I would
class as the bigger sound, not so bright but it's got a bit of fizz to it.
So this is the Chieftain, it's kind of based on the V5, it's the Chieftain Custom and these
will actually be available in the shops only in the tunable model and we've got them now
so once I've done the work putting them up on the site they'll be available to you.
I'm releasing them first through a German company that I deal with called Tomann so
the first people outside of buying off the Kerry Whistles site can go to Tomann and buy
them next month and we'll have their first consignment.
So there we are, the Chieftain Custom, there's a closer look.
So what we've got is a bit more fizz, a bit more volume and a bit more back pressure.
