[Eb]
[Eb] One peaceful [Gb] afternoon, [D] I picked up from my mailbox [C] the strangest [Gb] looking letter I'd ever
seen.
A chilling [C] little envelope [Gb] bordered with flying bats [Em] and eerie serpents was [Cm] eyes
linked to the green.
[Gb] That letter was [E] addressed to me, so as I opened it, I froze.
[Gb] What I
read turned my complexion three shades of blue.
It said, My name is [B] Isaac [C] Horowitz.
I'm a male witch, [Am] a warlock, and I feel [C] I need to spend some time with you.
[Dm] Now, as a Christian [Am] from a little church with God's call on my [F] life, a man of faith and
[D] power with a challenge to grow, [Dm] I did what [Am] anything would do [D] in my situation.
[Gb] I tore
it up so there was no way I'm going to go.
And gently [C] and methodically, the Holy [Am] Spirit
spoke and reminded me [E] we are God's voice [C] to our nation.
It's [Gb] the church's responsibility
to witness.
So reluctantly, I accepted this witch's [N] invitation.
[Em]
[Gb] [Bm] [B]
[Cm] He had the house you'd [Eb] expect, the [Em] old English [B] cottage, a [F] nightmare on Elm Street special
[E] right to the core, the [Cm] overgrown ivy, the gate [Eb] that creaked when [E] opened.
[B] Somehow you'd
expect a Freddie dance at his [D] door.
[E] The doorbell rang, a hollow [G] gong, the knob twisted and
[Bb] opened, [A] and Isaac stood before [Bm] me with a grin.
[E] His jet black [D] hair and well-trimmed [G] beard
flowed with his black silk clothes.
[Eb] My skin crawled as he [C] said, Please, [Cm] come on in.
[Gb]
His house was [Bb] filled with every [G]
occultic symbol you could fathom, [Eb] hanging pentagrams, horoscope
[C] signs, a Ouija board and [B] Dungeons and Dragons [Dm] game set on the table, [Bb] a crystal [E] ball of incandescent
shine.
And graciously, [C] he handed me some steaming herbal tea.
Its presence caused my memory
to jog.
[A]
I thought of every [Fm] horror flick I'd seen when I [Fm] was a kid and thought, Man, you
drink this stuff next day you'll be a frog.
And he led me to a high-backed chair [Gbm] as he
meticulously began to unfold his scenario with equal patience.
[Am] I was given a giant leather
bound book and jambled newspaper clippings.
[Em]
Thus the reason for this witch's invitation.
[Gb]
With eagerness he pointed to each article that dried.
[Am] He said, I healed this woman through
her Babylonian chain.
You see, this man I cured him while performing Druid worship.
I was paid to curse this man's hate [B] by his [F] hands.
On and on, page [Am] after page, delightfully
he flaunted [F] each incident for an hour [D] without a breath.
[Dm] He said, Do you realize through
my understanding [E] of the dark regions that I can make you [N] rich or even come to death?
[E] I sat literally intimidated by his immensity and demon power, while his face shone with
a satanic [C] arrogant bliss.
Then placing his hands on the arms [F] of my chair, leaning into
[C] my face, [Gb] he said, What can your God do [F] to me with this?
[D] [Db] I knew then how Moses [Ab] felt when
his rod turned [N] to a serpent.
And the three Egyptian magicians did the same.
It's as if
you're sitting there in that stunned moment where your faith gets violated and all you
feel is weak, powerless, and lame.
I desperately and deeply prayed, saying, Jesus, give me
wisdom.
I don't want to put you through some foolish test.
[E] Then a shaft of [Cm] light shot through
my soul, [E] igniting my eyes with fire.
God [Ebm] stood me up, and I threw the book back in his chest.
[Ab] I said, Isaac, I'll not compare [E] God's miracles versus Satan's.
[Bb] The issue's [G] not God's kingdom
and Satan's lair.
The [Gbm] real comparison is the condition of your soul and the condition of
your [B] mind and you [Bb] puppet of the [G] devil that I will compare.
[Ab] I said, my friend, one day
they're coming for you, the soft [B] associates in your [F] incantations, the friendly demons
[Eb] you think you now [Abm] control.
The time will come when you'll be lying in bed, wheezing like
[B] a dying animal, when those [F] spirits reclaim to the rights [Bb] they owned your soul.
Then [E] the
room will grow dark, and the most hideous evil faces you've ever seen will come flaming
out of the floor with a yell.
The vile informants that promised reincarnation will claw your
spirit and victoriously drag your soul to hell.
Then I [Ab] grabbed the book and says, in
that [D] moment, which mantra, which [Ab]
incantation are you going to chant to tell [D] them to leave
you alone?
I said, my [Eb] friend, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt what I would say.
I am
born with the blood of Jesus.
Let me go.
[Ebm] [A]
[Gb] I said, Isaac, when you tossed that book in
my lap, you gloated with [Bm] a sinister victory.
[Am] You rejoiced when you saw your name in black
and white.
Now I rejoice, but [Gbm] not that your [C] council of demons are [Bm] subject to Jesus, [Am] but
that my name was written [D]
in the Lamb's [Am] book of life.
[F]
Then Isaac jumped up from his [Am] chair
and screamed, you must leave now.
I [F] says, I will, but [D] one last obligation.
[Dm] Next time
think twice before you grumble [Gb] with a man of God.
And by the way, thanks for your, [Am] um,
witch's invitation.
[Gb] [N]
