Start Jamming...
Well, hi there, [Abm] the flute maker, [Eb] and hi, Mr.
Tibbs.
Well, are you going to take us into the [Bb] fluters?
I sort of am.
What are you doing here?
Where's all the bamboo?
Well, it's raining outside.
Yeah.
My customers need a break from all my bamboo.
Yeah.
And I decided to find a nice place of acoustics.
No kidding.
And show how beautiful the flutes can be played in places like this.
Take it away, Eric, the flute maker.
[B] [Eb]
[Ab]
[B] [Bb]
[Eb] [B]
[Abm]
[A] [N] One of the neat things we've been doing lately is breaking out from bamboo into [E]
carbon fiber.
And this [Bb] is the A [F] Pennywhistle tuned in A440.
It has a [Gm] warm voice, [E] and [Ab]
I'm [G] going to show you and play four of them [B] that are on the market [Bb] now.
The [B] A,
[Ebm] [Ab]
[A] [Bb] the B flat.
Good for a medium hand.
The A, a larger hand.
[Gb] The B flat, a medium, large.
[C] [Gm]
[C] [Bb]
[Gm]
[Ab] [F]
[Bb] [E] [A]
[C] [Ab]
[G] [Cm]
[C] C goes well with people who [E] like to play piano.
It's a great way to start [G] in [Eb] the area of music because the C scale is very easy to learn.
[Ab] And this [G] would be in the key of D, which is quite sought [F] after in the Irish Celtic circles
between playing in pubs and churches, the [E] key of D.
And on the higher octave, it gets pretty intense, but in [Em] an excited [G] praise service or [E] in a pub,
[Ab] that intensity is fine.
[Gb]
[Eb]
[B]
[Bb] [G]
The key of D will not only play in D major.
Starting on the note [B] E, it'll play in E minor.
[E] [Bb]
[G] [B]
And here I was using [Ab] half notes.
[E] It'll also play by using the peace sign fingers together [Em] in the key of G.
And it actually plays in B [Bb] minor.
[N] The key of C will [Fm]
[Gb] [E] [B]
also play in D minor.
[C]
[E] [Cm]
[Eb] [Cm] And then it'll play using the peace sign fingers together, will play in F.
[C]
[A] [B] So this is the C as in Si, Senora, playing [B] also in F as in, frankly speaking, Fernando Flores.
[G] Buenos Dias.
[Bb] And the B flat will play in C minor [C]
[Bb] [Eb] and in E flat.
[Gm]
[F]
[Bb]
On any [Eb] instrument, when you want to play in tune with others, if your instrument is [B] cold, [A] it's good to warm it up.
[Ab] The 98 degrees puts it back into [E] tuning.
[E]
[Ab]
[Abm] The penny whistle in A will play in [Ab] B minor and I believe in D using the peace sign finger.
[Bm]
[E] [Bb] And it'll come with a little lesson with some songs.
For [E] instance, in the song, the Titanic theme, you'll start with [Bb] 3, 2, 1, [G] meaning three fingers, two [Bb] and one.
And the half note would be one half.
And so that would be something [E] like
[Eb]
[Gb] [Bm]
[A] [G] [Eb]
[B]
[C] Penny whistles [E] at erictheflutemaker [Ab].com.
We make them in [G] Cocobolo and in carbon fiber.
[G] You can take your life [Bb] in tune.
Boys and girls, [Bb] that was it.
Another lesson, bye.
[Ab] And thank [B] you, Sister Lulu.
And [Ab] thank you for [B] sharing us.
For sharing us?
Yeah.
[N] I've been in that bag for too long.
Say goodbye, [Eb] Lulu.
Goodbye, Lulu.
Tibbs.
