This is like a first camp album.
A bunch of, like when we were first picking out the
orders of the songs and open mic set lists that we used to go play down in
the morning.
You know, just my notes to taking on the world.
Going to the country.

When [Gb] we moved back to Columbus for a little bit and the [Ab] album was kind of
doing that [G] floating up the charts thing, [Gb] it was just [Db] already different.
[Abm] We got up
on stage and people just [Ab] lit up and knew every single word, you know.
Everyone [Db] was
singing along and that was like the first time I felt [Ab] like this is gonna [Eb]
be
something.
[F] There's not many more gratifying [Ab] feelings.
[Eb] I
[N]
[C] [N] think [E]
we take a
lot of pride in and love and where we're from [B] and representing it [Ab] on the road and
in the music and [Am] the words.
[G] It's sort of [Gb] a plane dream [A] as far as states go.
People
[Gb] don't always have the perfect perception of it.
It's all cornfields.
I love being from
[Bb] Ohio.
[Eb] I [Abm]
[Eb] met Taylor at a class from [D] sophomore year of high school.
Yeah, there was something
about him.
[Eb] It's almost like he uses this [Gb] confidence.
[Ebm] This is the person I wanted to
end [Ab] up with.
[Bb]
[Eb]
We started going over to each other's houses after school, [E]
[Ab] playing guitar,
[Eb] playing covers, trying to learn songs.
At that time I was in school [E] and I was kind of
just skipping [B] class to play guitar.
We ended up dropping out and [Gb] making this music together
in Athens, [E] Ohio.
It just holds a certain [B] mystique and energy [Gb] that I think I feed off of a lot with
the hills [Eb] and [B] the woods and the pines and the people.
It's a college town [Gb] and beautiful brick
[Ebm] buildings and [E] streets.
That's just where we [Gm] kind of became camp.
[Bb]
[Cm] [F]
[Bb] You know, Evan is more of
[Cm] an ear
guy.
[Gm] He can kind of just hear [Bb] something and play it.
Musically, [G] he's a [Gm] great poet.
He's
very good with his words.
I think that's [A] why it works out.
[Gm] I can bring [Dm] melodies and [Eb] song
ideas to him and he can [D] write.
[G]
My writing is about something [A] I'm maybe imagining [Bm] the
feeling of or [G] yearning for that.
[D] What comes out is [A] not necessarily up to me.
I'm [D] never
looking to write a sad song [G] or looking [D] to write that catchy hook.
[A] The day [Bm] kind of unfolds
[G] out of the guitar [D] and you kind of just obey [A] it.
