Here's a song I wrote for my little boy.
He was just learning how to talk.
First word he ever learned was no.
Because that's all I ever heard from me and my wife.
No, no, no!
And then the second word was hot.
Hot, hot, no, hot, hot.
So he'd walk around and I was no, no, no, hot, hot, no.
And it was right about then I wanted him to know about this incredible miracle thing that had happened within me.
This explosion of new life, new birth within my heart.
And how do you put that into words for a little kid?
I mean, that's a heavy concept for an adult, but a little kid, I thought, alright.
First thing came to my brain, bullfrog.
[N] Oh, I wrote that on a piece of paper.
Oh, [Bb] butterfly.
[C] And I realized there were two little critters that God created in the one dimension of life.
And after a little time passed by, think about it, he took them and repackaged them.
[A] Reengineered, restructured, redesigned.
And they were born two times.
Born twice.
Once into this dimension, and then they were born into a whole [G] new experience.
[F] Just what I needed.
They've both been born again.
[Bb] Bullfrogs and butterflies.
They've both been, come [F] on everybody, help me sing it now.
[Bb] Bullfrogs and butterflies.
[F] They've both been born, they've been born again.
They've both been born.
Wait [C] a minute, you've all been practicing or something.
Well, nobody catches on that fast.
I live in Fresno, California.
I did this song a few weeks ago out there.
It took 30 minutes to get this [N] far right here.
I mean, [Gb] it's foggy in Fresno, folks.
[Ab] So since you know the words, what I'll try and do is,
what I want to do is separate all the bullfrogs from the butterflies.
I just kind of feel the guys are like Schwarzenegger frog out there every day.
Often they go to work, you know, hi-ho, hi-ho, I'll be back Maria, you know, and away they go.
[F] And the ladies, I don't know about you guys, but man, my butterfly just drives me crazy.
I love it, that's why I married her.
Oh, I will never be bored with this one, you know.
34 years later and she's still got me going.
I love it, I love it.
So all you guys, give me that big, bullfrogs, okay, Arnold Schwarzenegger, here we go.
[Bb]
He'd be proud of that.
And then all the ladies, listen, you bullfrogs in trouble [F] out here.
We got some heavyweight butterflies going here tonight.
Then all together we sing, they've both been born again.
Come on now.
[Bb] Bullfrogs, [F] they've both been born again.
Don't you love them [Bb] bullfrogs?
[F] I love them [Bb] bullfrogs.
Yeah, they've both [C] been born [F] again.
[C] There's old Tadpole in a fishing hole.
He couldn't croak or [F] jump to save his soul.
[C] But then one day, funniest thing, [Bb] you know he started growing, [F] turning green.
[C] He jumped up on a lily pad, [Bb] croaking out a song, gave it all he had.
[Am] Yes, he did.
He's singing [Bb] bullfrogs.
[F] Hey, both been born.
Don't you love them [Bb]
bullfrogs?
Yeah, [F] they both been born.
Come on, your turn to do it.
[Bb]
[C] [F] All the little latter, come on.
[Bb]
[F] Now [C] there's a little caterpillar on a blade of grass, noticing the [F] day going by so [C] fast.
A lovely little lady looking for a room, weaving and [F] spinning a fine [C] cocoon.
What didn't take long until she saw the sky, [Bb] spread your wings you [C] butterfly.
There she goes, she's singing [F]
[Bb] bullfrogs.
Hey, [F] here comes the bunch of [Bb] bullfrogs.
[F] Yeah, everybody's singing all together all the way through.
[Bb] Bullfrogs, we've both been born.
[F] We've been born again.
[Bb] Bullfrogs, the butterflies.
[F] We've both been born.
Yes, we have.
We've both been born.
Thanks God for that.
We've both been [Bb] born again.
[F] I'm the [F] DVD clown.
Amen.
