What a beautiful Christian lady she was.
[G#] She was about 4'9", an [C#] incredible prayer warrior.
She literally had read through the Bible, I think, [D] about 40 times in her [F] lifetime.
[F#] I don't know that I've read it 3 more times.
[D#m] But her Bible was tattered and [C#] torn, and I had gone back to visit my dad [Fm] a few weeks before he passed away.
[F#] Not knowing that dad was going to be taken [D#] so soon, I look back on that time as a blessing I [A#] got to spend with him.
When I got back to Nashville, I sat down [F#] to write with a friend of mine.
I was still a kid, I was looking at [C#] my grandmother's Bible, she had passed on to my dad.
So we wrote this song.
It's called When [Fm] I'm Good and Gone.
[A#] [F#] [D#]
[G#] [C#] I hope they find [A#]
my King James Bible, the one [F#] around his neck, and open to the [C#] book of John.
My favorite page, [C] we made together, down [F#] by Newberry, when he was just [D#] 21.
[G#] [F#] I hope they're laying there beside their old love [G#] letters, the [C#] ones that read, [F#] just like the song.
[C#] [D#] I hope they find more good than bad, when [C#] I'm good and gone.
[Fm] [F] [D#] [D#m]
[G#] I [C#] hope my babes [A#] make good neighbors, the [F#] kind you know that are [C#] never gonna let you down.
And I hope they teach their sons [Fm] and daughters [F#] the things I taught them while I was still [D#] around.
[F#] And when they lay me down, I hope the [D#] sun shines.
[G#] And there's [C#] lots of flowers, and that [F#] line of cars is [C#] long.
I hope [D#m] they find more [D#] good than bad, [G#] when I'm [C#] good and gone.
[G#] Well [F#] I ain't leaving here today, [C] as far as I can see.
[F#] Got a list of things I plan on getting [C#] to.
[F#] Oh, and how I'm gonna read, this [C] old world ain't up to me.
[F#] So when the good Lord sets my time on [A#] earth to speak.
[D#m] I hope he [F#] finds more good than [G#] bad.
[C#] I hope he finds my [C] King [A#] James Bible, one [F#] around the [D#m] edges, and open [G#] to the book [C#] of John.
