I'm going to go [G#] ahead and get started.
I'd like to ask you about some of the techniques and the sounds that you were using.
One [G] of the things that I noticed that we use in the tone controls quite a lot.
I'd like you to maybe tell everybody how you use them and what sort of sounds you get through using them.
Well, I actually don't use the tone controls.
Okay, fine.
On this particular guitar, it's meant to cut out the rest.
Right.
So, I find that if you back the actual pickup up, there's about, say, five points of volume on the pickup.
Yeah.
And they will change the [B] sound from bass, treble, to mid.
Could you maybe give us a, just play a couple of things and show us?
Oh yeah, if you were to hear it. Okay.
[A] [E]
[C]
[G]
Today, today, it's going to have a lot more bottom end on it.
Now, usually that's whether it does this particular thing.
I don't know, chaps.
I'm going [G]
to back that back down to six.
Then the mid starts to come up on it.
It just starts cleaning up.
One, two, four.
[Gm]
[Em]
Clean it, and the bottom end comes back again.
If you take it down to two, you can get the [D] clean.
[F] It's not bad, John.
[C] Get the treble back again.
[Em]
[G] Sort of that.
[D]
[G]
[C]
The bass pickup again gives you another five ranges.
Yeah.
Do you find that using the volume control in that way, that you don't need the front pickup so much?
Because it sounds to me like you actually get, you know, some front pickup type of sound just by doing what you're doing there.
Well, generally you do.
There's certain things, certain songs from certain albums or whatever you do overdubs it.
Perhaps you would go over to it.
But usually, I'm going for a very clean thing.
Right.
Laterally, I've actually been using the treble backed off further.
It's what the clean sounds are that I normally use on the bass.
It all [F] depends.
It depends on the sound check [G#] as well.
I play live.
It's different from stage to stage.
You just swap around [Gm] the pickups.
You're [G] right.
You don't tend to have to.
[G] It's a nice change of sound if you use the bass just full out and use the treble for all the other sounds.
