Another important thing that I'd like to talk with you is how to connect the
bossa nova with jazz.
You know, bossa nova and jazz, they walk together.
So the
harmonies, the compositions, [E] the way to improvise, [Eb] they follow the same
line.
And [Ab] some songs, they are very equal, like [G] the same harmonies, the same swing
sometimes.
So [C] there are a song called So Danço Samba.
It's a [Ab] traditional bossa
nova song that [E] I can I can example you how close is the jazz to the bossa nova.
This song is like, the harmony [Em] of the song is like
[C]
[Am] [F] [Ab]
[E] [Am] [C]
[A] [Gm] [C]
[E]
[G] [Eb] So I'm going to the bossa nova way, but I could go to the jazz, the swing jazz
way.
That's the same harmony of Take the Train, that famous [E] standard.
So you could
[Am]
[Em]
[Am] [C]
[F]
[Eb] [D]
[Gb]
[Am] [A]
So if you know some jazz standards, it's very easy and it's very nice to adapt to
the bossa nova way.
For example, a very famous standard called Stella by Starlight.
You can play [Gb] in a bossa nova way very nicely like that.
[Gm] [F] [G]
[Dm] [G]
[Bb]
[Am] [C] [G] [Fm]
[Gb] [Dm]
[Gm] [Bb] You can [Gb] see how easy is to adapt the bossa nova to the jazz and you can get a lot of
different standards and you can put bossa nova way and jazz
