Hello guys, this is AmosdollMusic and in today's lesson I'm going to teach you how to play the Braveheart main theme.
So it goes like this, give you a preview.
It's pretty awesome.
[D] Simple yet [Fm] very nice motive [E] to learn to play.
Check it out, it goes like this.
Check it out.
[Em] [F] [G]
[Em]
[F] [G]
[C]
[F] [G]
[C]
[F] [G]
[Am] And you can repeat it with more [Em] improvisations.
[F] [G]
[Am] [G] [F]
[G] [Am]
[F]
[G] [A]
[F]
[Am]
Yeah, play around [C] with it.
It's pretty awesome.
So [E] we're going to learn the melody and block chords first because that's the foundation of a song.
From that you can add all these improvisations and decorations [Bb] into it afterwards.
So here we go.
Let's break it up into a few parts to learn it.
Four parts.
[Ab] First part goes like this.
Right hand starts on
Actually do an octave here.
Start here.
So [D] it goes E, [E] G, A.
Up [Bm] to C, B, C, [Em] B, A, G, G, [E] A.
Down to E, [Em] E, G.
That's it for the right hand for the first part.
Let's do it again.
So it goes like this.
E, G, [E]
A.
[Fm] Up to [E] C, B, C, [C] B, A, G, G, [A] A.
Down to [C] E, [Em] E, G.
That's it for the right hand.
[E] Left hand we have four chords for the first part.
The four chords are [F] F major which is F, A, C.
Second chord is [G] G major which is G, B, D.
Third [Am] chord is A minor which is A, C, E.
And fourth chord back [G] to G major again.
It's a passing chord.
So with [F] these four chords in mind.
So F major, [G] [Am] G major, A [G] minor and G major.
Two [Em] hands together it goes like this.
Right hand starts first with the first two notes.
A and F major [F] together.
B and G major together.
[G] [Em]
Second G and A minor [Am] together.
Next [Em] E and G major together.
Like that.
One more time it goes like this.
[F] Together, [G] together, [Am] together, [Em]
together.
Moving on to the second part now.
Right hand [A] continues.
It goes A, [Em] up to C, B, C, B, [G] A, G, G, [E] A.
Like that.
That's it for the second part.
Let's do it again.
It goes A, up to C, B, C, [C] B, A, G, G, [B] A.
That's it for the right hand.
Left hand three chords [G] here is essentially the first [E] three chords in the first part.
Do you know how the first part has like four chords?
It's just the first three chords.
Simple.
So [F] it's F major, F, A, [G] C, G major, G, B, [Am] A minor, E, C, E.
So you know these [G] three chords [A] based on the first part [E] already.
Two hands together for this second part.
It goes like this.
A and F [F] major together.
B and G [G] major together.
Second G and A minor [Am] together.
Like that.
One more time it goes [F] like this.
Together, [G]
together, together, [Am] together.
Like that for [B] the second part.
So back to back the two parts we've learned so far will be played like this.
Check it out.
[F] [G]
[Am] [G]
[F] [G]
[Am] Like that.
Moving on to the third part [E] now.
Right hand continues like this.
Let [D] me see.
Okay, it goes E, [A] G, A, [Em] C, B, C, B, A, G, [E] G, [Em] A, G, E.
Okay, that's it for the right hand for the third part.
One more time.
E, G, [E] A up to C, B, C, [D] B, A, G, G, A, G, [E] E.
That's it.
Left hand three chords here.
The three chords are just the same three chords as the second part.
You know F [G] major, [Am] G major, A minor.
[F] With that in mind, two hands together it goes [Em] like this.
Right hand starts.
A and F major [F] together.
B and G major [G] together.
Next G and [Am] A minor together.
Like that.
That's it for the third part.
[Em] Let's do it again.
It goes [F] together, [G] together,
[Am] like that.
[Em] Okay, back to back the three parts we've learned so far will be played like this.
[E] Check it out.
So let me see.
Actually before we do that, the fourth and last part is actually exactly the same as the second part.
So we pretty much finished learning it.
Okay, so the robot fourth part exactly the same as the second part.
So adding on the extra E, G notes at the start.
It was not exactly the same I guess.
You add on the extra E, G at the start.
It [E] goes the [F] same as the second part.
[G] [Am]
Like that.
That's the fourth and last part.
So [E] it's the same as the second part but add the extra right hand [Ab] E, G.
Which essentially is actually the first part end of the phrase E, G without that leading G major chord.
Okay, [C] so pretty simple stuff.
So it just goes.
[F]
[G] [Em] And that's the fourth and last part.
So back to back now [Em] all four parts we've learned this lesson will be played like this.
[F] [G]
[Am]
[F] [G]
[Am] [Em]
[F] [G]
[Am] [F]
[G] [Em]
[Am] That's it.
So once you've got all these melody and chords all good, you can start to repeat it.
[F] And once you can repeat it every single time consistently [E] correct, then you can start to add on the improvisation and decorations into it.
For example, the left hand for the chords you can [F] do octave bass note, arpeggio patterns, [G] rhythmic patterns.
[A] [Am]
[G] That kind of thing.
And [Ab] right hand you can harmonize the bass on those respective chords underneath the melody lines.
So it could be like this.
Give you a preview.
[F] [G]
[Am] [A] [C]
[F] [G] [Am]
[G] [F]
[G] [A] [Am]
[F]
[G] [Am]
Play around with it, okay?
So [N] anyway, that's pretty much it.

[G] [Am]

That's the fourth and last part.
So [E] it's the same as the second part but add the extra right hand [Ab] E, G.
Which essentially is actually the first part end of the phrase E, G without that leading G major chord.
Okay, [C] so pretty simple stuff.
So it just goes.
[F]
[G] [Em] And that's the fourth and last part.
So back to back now [Em] all four parts we've learned this lesson will be played like this.
[F] [G]

So here we go.
Let's break it up into a few parts to learn it.
Four parts.
[Ab] First part goes like this.
Right hand starts on_
Actually do an octave here.
Start here.
So [D] it goes E, [E] G, A.
Up [Bm] to C, B, C, [Em] B, A, G, G, [E] A.
Down to E, _ [Em] E, G.
_ B and G major together.
[G] _ _ [Em] _
Second G and A minor [Am] together. _ _ _
Next [Em] E and G major together.
_ Like that.
One more time it goes like this.
[F] Together, _ _ [G] together, _ _ [Am] together, _ _ _ [Em]
Simple.
So [F] it's F major, _ F, A, [G] C, G major, G, B, [Am] A minor, E, C, E.
So you know these [G] three chords [A] based on the first part [E] already.
Two hands together for this second part.
It goes like this.
A and F [F] major together.
_ _ B and G [G] major together. _
_ Second G and A minor [Am] together. _ _
Like that.
One more time it goes [F] like this.
Together, _ _ [G]
together, together, _ _ [Am] _ _ together.
Like that for [B] the second part.
So back to back the two parts we've learned so far will be played like this.
Check it out.
_ [F] _ _ _ _ _ [G] _
_ [Am] _ _ _ _ _ _ [G] _
_ [F] _ _ _ _ [G] _ _ _
_ [Am] _ _ Like that.
Moving on to the third part [E] now.
Right hand continues like this.
Let [D] me see.
Okay, it goes E, [A] G, A, _ [Em] C, B, C, B, A, G, [E] G, [Em] A, G, E.
Okay, that's it for the right hand for the third part.
One more time.
_ E, G, [E] A up to C, B, C, [D] B, A, G, G, _ A, G, [E] E.
That's it.
_ Left hand three chords here.
The three chords are just the same three chords as the second part.
You know F [G] major, [Am] G major, A minor.
[F] With that in mind, two hands together it goes [Em] like this.
Right hand starts.
A and F major [F] together.
_ _ B and G major [G] together.
_ _ _ Next G and [Am] A minor together. _ _
_ _ Like that.
That's it for the third part.
[Em] Let's do it again.
It goes [F] together, _ _ [G] together, _
_ [Am] _ _ _ _ _ like that.
[G] _ _ _ _ _ [Am] _
Like that.
That's the fourth and last part.
So [E] it's the same as the second part but add the extra right hand [Ab] E, G.
Which essentially is actually the first part end of the phrase E, G without that leading G major chord.
Okay, [C] so pretty simple stuff.
So it just goes.
_ _ [F] _
_ _ [G] _ _ _ _ [Em] And that's the fourth and last part.
So back to back now [Em] all four parts we've learned this lesson will be played like this.
_ [F] _ _ _ [G] _
_ _ _ [Am] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [F] _ _ _ _ [G] _ _
_ [Am] _ _ _ _ _ _ [Em] _
_ [F] _ _ _ _ [G] _ _ _
[Am] _ _ [F] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [G] _ _ _ _ [Em] _ _
[Am] _ That's it.
So once you've got all these melody and chords all good, you can start to repeat it.
[F] And once you can repeat it every single time consistently [E] correct, then you can start to add on the improvisation and decorations into it.
For example, the left hand for the chords you can [F] do octave bass note, arpeggio patterns, _ [G] rhythmic patterns.
_ [A] _ _ [Am] _
_ _ [G] That kind of thing.
And [Ab] right hand you can harmonize the bass on those respective chords underneath the melody lines.
So it could be like this.
Give you a preview.
_ [F] _ _ _ _ [G] _ _
_ _ [Am] _ [A] _ _ _ _ [C] _
_ [F] _ _ _ [G] _ _ _ [Am] _
_ _ _ _ _ [G] _ _ [F] _
_ [G] _ _ _ _ _ [A] _ [Am] _
_ _ _ _ [F] _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ [Am] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
Play around with it, okay?
