Hello [C]
everyone, [Fm] my name is Nari [Ab] Sol, I'm a pianist-composer, and this [C] week I did a little
exploration into the world of bossa [Eb] nova.
Thank you [B] to everyone [G] who suggested this idea, and to everyone who guided [Fm] me as to what to listen [Eb] to.
[Gb]
[Bb] [C]
[Dbm]
[Abm]
[B] [A]
[Eb] I want to find something that will sort of, sort of imitate the constant [C]
rhythm in the
background with notes.
[E]
[Bb]
[A]
Some notes I gathered is that [B] the style is, broadly [B]
speaking, a unique blend of samba-influenced
[E] rhythm, [Ab] acoustic guitar, [A] jazz harmony, soft percussion sounds, [Gbm] [Gb]
gentle vocals, [Eb]
and what
I find to be [Bb] a dreamy sense of [Eb] peace and optimism.
[Gbm]
[Bm] So I'm going to do this little [N] exercise where I'm taking this rhythmic module.
So 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, and I'm going to be displacing that by eighth notes so that
it starts at every single point.
So at every half beat, I'm going to be starting this module.
Okay, so I have this shaker beat in the background.
So I'll start with the first [Gb] one.
[N]
Now I'm going to go to the second one.
Third, [Db]
fourth, [D] fifth, sixth, wait,
[Db] okay, seventh, eighth, [Bb]
okay.
Now I'm going to try to go through them in order.
Okay, cool.
[F]
[N]
I definitely want to explore further with this in the future, but for now, here's a
piece I wrote that was inspired by the bossa nova tunes I listened to so far.
