What's up everyone?
Welcome back to the Aram Nadi YouTube channel.
My name is Aram and I am coming to you today to teach you a Bobby Womack song.
One of my favorites.
It's called That's the Way I Feel About You.
It's a really old song, but man, it just feels so good to play.
And I could play this type of stuff all day.
I think it's really valuable to learn this kind of stuff.
It's got good, really amazing guitar stuff, a fun chord progression,
and it's a great practice tool just to put this track on and just kind of experiment
and get in the pocket and yeah, I could do it all day.
Before I get started, please like, subscribe, hit the bell so you get notified of my videos,
all that good stuff that'll help me out.
But okay, let's get started.
Bobby Womack, That's the Way I Feel About You.
It is in D major.
And I'm thinking D major and my pentatonic box, which is like B minor, D major,
whatever way you want to look at it.
[E]
[F#] It's right there.
[D] So here's my one.
My [Bm] pentatonic box.
[G#] This song will start with a little lick and it goes to the four [A] chord.
[G] [E]
[G] So that's that little lick and goes to a G major seven chord.
And take a note that with that G major seven, I'm going, there's a little bit of movement in it.
[Bm] [C#] So I'm hammering on with my pinky on the B string from that 10 to [G] 12 fret.
[D]
[G#] Do the same thing again and put that same G major seven chord over the one, which is D.
So that'll technically make like a D6 chord, whatever way you want to look at it.
[Em] [D] [Bm]
[A] [F#] [D]
[E] The guitar in the actual recording does a single note line like I [G] decided to chord it out.
So I took, I listened to the bass line number one, so I knew what the chords were.
I just followed the bass.
So I knew it was something like I [D]
just applied that melody line within each chord.
So I [G] ended up with.
[F#m] [G]
[F#m] [E] [D]
[G] [F#m] [F#m]
[E] [D]
[G] [F#]
[F#m] [D] [A]
[Em] [F#m] And then you can also do this voicing.
[Bm] Later in the song, the guitar goes [F#] like.
[E] [G] [D#m]
So now let's talk about that chorus.
The chorus starts on the five.
It's technically a four over five.
So [A] eight, eleven, then one, five, [D] [A]
[Bm] six.
[A]
[D] [A] [Bm]
[E] Second part will go.
[G] [D] [A]
[D] [A]
[B] Second part goes to [G] four, [A] five, [D] then one, five.
[Bm]
Back to the verse.
[G] So here's the whole [A] thing.
[D]
[A] [Bm] [Em]
[G] [A] [B]
[A] [Bm] [F#] The bridge of that song is going to be on the six.
It's going to have a little lick leading up to it like this.
[F#m] [Bm]
[E] So let's just start it off.
Here's the lick.
It lands you right on the six.
[B] [F#] [A] Three, [B] six, [F#] dominant two, [G#]
[G] four, [D] six, [Em]
lick.
[B] [G#] Then back to the six.
[F#m] Three, [Bm] six, [E] dominant two,
[Em] [A]
[A] five.
[E] So all together.
[D] [B]
[F#m] [D]
[Em] [B] [F#m]
[Bm] [C#m] [Em]
[G] [A] [F#]
[Bm] [E] [G]
[F#m] [D] [Bm] So I hope that gives you a good idea of the song.
I know this was a really quick run through,
but I just wanted to put together a quick video.
Just look up the song, play along to it.
It's a lot of fun.
I think it's just a good one to have in your arsenal
