[Db] But then he heard [Bbm] no more from Sue, he was weary and sick, but what could he do?

_ Billy was getting [Bbm] less and less strong, [Db] his hope, his faith [Bbm] was almost gone.
[Db] And then like a [Ab] miracle, a lyrical pill, [Gb] Billy tore the letter open [Ab] and he read, [Db] Dear _ John.
A _ _ look came in, a look [Bbm] that would scare a ghost, a [Db] familiar look seen on [Bbm] soldiers coast to coast.
[Db] And even though the air [Ab] was filled with lead, [Gb] Billy jumped up, _ [Ab] _ _
they [Db] shot him dead.

_ [Db] Billy was buried [Bbm] in a far away grave and [Db] ready for his country, [Bbm] his life he gave.
