[G] It's a life, and [D] you hear these sounds
We [Am] are still kings and queens of [C] the [D] underground
I [G] don't mean to be
Hi, I'm Billy [D] Idol and I've got a new album coming out in October [Am] 2014
It's called [C] Kings and Queens of the [D] Underground and I want you to check it [G] out
The majority of the songs were written with Steve Stevens, Billy Morrison and myself
[Am] Music usually dictates [G] when you put out an album
[D] and you feel you've [G] got something worthwhile or something that makes sense to [D] you
or something that seems fresh [Am] or is progressing, moving your music along
[C] That's what we look for
[D] [Eb]
[C] Making [Bb] millions of records is [Eb] fantastic, but you want to make the right record
So we [C] really waited quite a long time for this [Bb] sensual [Eb] feeling
This cinematic, theatrical, 1080 [Cm] pixels, high-def, widescreen, [Bb] cinemascope [Eb] version of this music
which, that's the way it feels to [C] me, it feels very like a soundtrack
[Bb] I've [Eb] forgotten [Bb] how to fly
It is a combination [C] of my life [Gm] put into [Bm] words, really
Never realized what I proposed got thrown in the [B] past
[G] Yesterday is [E] history
A lot of it's bouncing off [A] my own [Bm] autobiography that I've been writing while we were making this record
and so we couldn't help but it be [G] a little bit kind of introspective
It does look [Bm] sometimes into the past, but [B] there's a lot of songs on the album that are very much about today
Some of the love songs [Bm] on it are very much about today, a lot of my life in the last [Em] year or so
[Bm] One Breath Away or Eyes Wide Shut, they're not looking backwards at all
So there's a number [A] of different ways to go if you're listening to this record
[E] One breath away
And [Bm] I know the past is dead and gone
Wasted emotions carry [A] on
One breath away
[E] One breath away [Gbm] I did
[A]
[B] Sold all [Bm] my vinyl, it [E] went up my arm
[Em] Kings and Queens of the Underground, I mean it's got quite [Gb] confessional lyrics in a way
[C] I sold all my vinyl, it went up [D] my arm
You know like, [E] yeah, that was [C] heavy in those days when you would [D] sell your record collection of [Em] drugs
The song [G] itself is singing about my career, about my life
[D] The sexual shenanigans of the Roxy [Am] back in the 70s and the [C] 80s of Rebel Yell
You know, when I [D] was on everybody's television, I [G] was as high as the moon
[D] It goes down great [Am] that song, I mean that's really why it's the title [C] track of the album
We've been [D] playing it for a couple of [G] years
It just seems like it's the flagship song and it [D] just seems to embody what the [Am] album's about
I'll [C] be a nigger if [G] you give up
I'll [Abm] wait for [B] your love
They [E] just sway me now
[Dbm] I'm [Abm] really hoping people enjoy the record [B] and I think it's for everybody
I [E] hope that it can span the time that I've been making [Dbm] records
Right from my [Abm] first record to the Generation X to now
[B] I really hope people find things on it they [E] really like
Of course, it's like a child, you want it [Dbm] to grow [E] and have a beautiful existence
Hopefully when [B] people hear it, they will [A] really enjoy it
I hope people [E] have an oral feast with it, I hope so
[B]
[A] No, you can't bring me down
It's just my natural [B] reaction
When I hear [A] the thorn
I'm the original [B] substance
I've grown [E] up for more
