[A] [D] [F#m]
[G] Greetings friends, [N] Jeremy at Janet Davis Acoustic Music showing you the lick of the week.
This week on a Weber Gallatin Wide Neck Mandolin.
It's a great Bill Monroe lick and it kind of has that Kenny [F#m] Baker flavor as well that
Jake showed you [N] here a couple of weeks ago.
This one's an A though and we'll go ahead and get started on it and I'll take you through
it step by step and you'll have a cool little Bill Monroe A lick to show everybody.
Alright so starting off, we're going to start off on an A note on the E string [G] and we're
going to [Dm] pick that so that's 5th fret E string and then it's going to go [G] to the open E and
[D]
[Am] then it's going to go to the A [D] string in the 5th fret.
[G]
So all together.
And then it's going to go A string again to the 3rd fret sliding to [D] the 4th.
So all [G#m] together with [Dm] that.
[D] [Gm]
[D] [F] Then we're going to jump to [D] the D string in the 7th fret and
[Dm] [D] then we're going to do our
[C] slide yet again [D] and back to the D string in the 7th fret.
[G] [D]
[C#] And then [A] we're going to catch the part of the A chord, not the whole thing, just these two.
[G] So [G#] we'll do [D] that one again.
So [F#m]
there's the [D] first kind of half of it.
[A]
And now everything is going to be done, [G] most everything, on [D] the G string here.
We have kind of a funny little walk here.
[E]
[Dm] [A]
And this one's [G] going to start in the 9th fret G string and it's just going to walk back
kind of chromatic here.
[D#m] [D] [G] So that goes 9, [D#m]
8, [D] 7.
[G] So all together up to that point.
[D] [A]
[Cm] [D] [G] And now we're [N] going to skip, so we go 9, 8, 7, we're going to skip to the 5th string,
still on the G string, sorry 5th fret, and we're going to do a hammer-on 5th to the [G] 6th.
So it goes.
[D#m] [D] [C] [D] [G#] So that [Em] part again slow.
[D#] [D] [C]
[C#] [A] And then we're going to catch our A note, which is D string 5th fret.
[Dm] And [G] we're going to catch that as the chord at the very [Em] end.
[D] [F#m]
And [G] that chord being your D string in the 5th fret, your G string in D.
[E] [D]
So all together.
[A] [D] [F#m]
And there you go.
[D] [A]
[D#] [F#m] [N] Alright, well there you go.
There's a tasty little lick for you in A, so you can throw into all your A tunes.
And until then, take [F#] care and happy picking!
