Hi, I'm Bernard Butler.
This is my studio and
[A] [G] this is my guitar.
This is my [Eb] Strat.
This is a 62 Strat [Ab] and
[G] with my own [Eb] custom finish
[Ab]
It's custom because I did it with my bare hands with a razor blade
Followed by paint stripper followed by a good bit of Black & Decker
Stripper.
Yeah, it was a terrible late placid [G] blue and I hated [D] it and
[Ab] Then it was red and then it was black then [G] it was tie-dye
[Db] Left it like this, which is pretty nice because it's freaking actually feel the wood.
I've left the bits on the side
Which [E] I think is alright
[G] I
[Eb]
[E] [D]
[E] [A]
[G] [E]
never played this Strat [D] until
Two years ago.
I've never [Ab] had one never played [D] one anything [E] and
I kind of went mad broke [Ab] my leg and I went slightly [G] mad and bought a Strat and
[Em] Decided that was all I was gonna do and [Ab] throw away everything else
I was using and that's why I ended up with this and I really like it
I'm playing it with my group trans [G] at the moment and
[A] Just using [Db] my Strat no [G] pedals or very few
things through my lazy J amp [D] and
[A]
[G] That's that's the thing at the moment, yeah, [Ab] I'll get bored of [G] it after a while [Em] and change but it's good for now
[E]
[Dbm] [A] [E] Okay, and this is my [Am] 355
[E] This is 1961
ES [C] 355 TDV, I think I [G] got this in 1994 [Ab] and I've used it on
Probably 80% of the things I've ever [Gbm] done really since [G] then and
It's [E] it's it's expensive guitar [C] and it's like a posh guitar
I mean at the [A] time it was the [Bb] 355 is the posh deluxe [G] version of a 335 and
So you've got this kind of gold hardware and stuff and sort of flashy sort of bits [N] around the edge
Essentially I use it on everything.
Anyway, it's like an everyday guitar for me
So it's not [G] really like a museum [F] piece or anything and and [G] definitely shouldn't be treated like one.
It's stereo as well
[N] Which is also a bit pointless because it doesn't sound very good at stereo.
I think the stereo meant that you could put
come out of a stereo cable and and you could split the two pickups would go into different amps and
But it just never sounded very good like that
So I have to have a sort of a strange cable made up for it which stereo at one end of mono at the other
to use it with [Em] it's
Really what I love [G] about it is
[E] It's got big speed on it a big speed tremolo arm often people complain about big speeds and complain about tremolo arms
[G] they're not very reliable and
This one is amazing.
[A] I can do pretty much anything [D] with it
[E] And it stays in tune
[A]
It's very much [Ab] part of the style that [G] whenever I play this guitar I use the tremolo
[A] A lot
Quite a sort [E] of radical extent and it gives this kind of very dramatic [G] emotional [E] feel [G] to
It's like a quite a graphic.
I always think it's quite a graphic
Representation of the chords and the notes essentially it's a really [E] simple thing.
You can [A] play it an A major like that
And then you just suddenly play it like this
It's really easy to do it's not that much [N] harder
It just suddenly sounds [A] amazing used it on the pink suede songs [Dbm] and the cow on the Butler [Gb] song yes was
And
[B] [Gb]
it had [A] I guess you in that bit
The [E] [F]
[A] fact
[D] [A]
[D]
[A] [D]
[G] that using this guitar you can do all that stuff because it's just it's all [E] it is playing an A
It's very simple, [A] but you little techniques I
Don't know you get get used to them over the years and you realize that people start liking them and generally in guitar
If somebody says I like that just do it over and over
Until they're sick [E] of it until they say you're like something else [A] because you [N] know you're winning
This is my studio and
