[C] [Dbm]
Hi, how [Ab] are you?
[Dbm]
[Em] [Dm]
[Am]
[Em] [G] [N] What's up?
The point of this video is to go [B] over
Basic chord structures that you can build with your hand and put anywhere on the guitar
They're called bar chords
But there's four major kinds of chords that [Ab] you're gonna find if you're going on like Ultimate Guitar or something like that to look up
Songs [B] you're gonna find major chords, minor chords, major 7 chords, and minor 7 chords
They're the most common chord structures that you'll find and they're all really easy to [Em] play
You can do the same shape on [F] the guitar depending on whether you're on the low [N] E or the A string
I'm gonna start with major chords if you're playing on the low E you bar you just take your index finger
You just hold down all the strings.
It's like a capo your fingers basically a capo.
This is the structure
These two fingers on the next two strings down so A string [D] D string and then you take your middle finger
Right there on the next string [A] down one fret
[N] That's a and the only reason you know it's a is because you got your E [E] string here [B] E
[Db] So you go [N] F F sharp G G [Am] sharp [E] a and that's how you can figure [A] that out
That's a major to make the chord of minor all you [Ab] do is lift your middle finger [Am] off
You do that dark sound for a minor chord?
And if you want to play a major 7 chord you go back to the major structure, [A] and you just take your pinky off
[Bb] Is it like a jazzy sound easiest [Bm] one to play if you want to play a minor 7 take your middle finger off
[Ab] And it's just these two fingers now.
It's just the bar [C] and then my ring [Am] finger
You [Dm] can do that anywhere on [Eb] the fretboard.
Here's [G] D right here
[B] Go up [E] to B [B] right here
[G] G to B
[B] [C] But
[Bb] [A] you can put that anyone the guitar knows those four [D] structures work anywhere [Bb] on this East
Well if you want to go to the a string it's similar, but it's not the same so you would [B] for a major chord
And we're just gonna stick [Bb] with the fifth fret because [Bm] it's easy to say and you would [Eb] put these three [Gm] fingers down on each
of the following three straight under the a string so
[D]
[N] And
You can still bar like you weren't before so then [D] you get that
That's the major form right [C] there if you want to go to the minor
It's the same as the [Bb] major structure on a low E string see if you want to go to the minor on the a [Dm] string
There's your minor if [N] you want the major 7 put your ring finger down on [C] the D string
And [B] then you put your pinky down you skip a string you put your pinky down [D] on the B string
That'll give you your major 7 [B]
and if you want the minor 7 keep your bar [N] put your ring finger down
skip the string again like you did for the major 7 and
Put your middle finger down on the B string one fret up from your [Dm] bar
And [Ab] that's good anywhere on the guitar all [B] those forms are so here's [Em] your minor again [Cm] down here
Here's your minor 7 you [Dm] can do the major chords to [D] same deal
[E] [C]
If you're not sure how to play a chord you see a [Em] C sharp minor how do I play that well you count up?
Here's your a [D] string got a sharp [A] B
C C sharp is [Ab] the fourth fret and you lay down your minor chord [Dbm] pattern
There's C minor.
[C] Here's a little diagram helping you find all of [N] the chords so this top row is
the E string the bottom row is the a string and
Say you're [D] playing a [B] song and it says you [C] need
F sharp and you need F sharp [A] major [C] boy
You just go back to that [E] major structure for F sharp and [N] you find the second fret on the E string
Notice that F sharp and G flat are the same fret it's because they're the same chord F sharp is
G flat G flat is F sharp
And it's the same thing for G sharp and a [B] flat and also a sharp B [Gm] flat all of them
Sharp just [C] means it's a half step up from the original so [N] a sharp is a half step above a but not every note has
A sharp or a flat it goes straight from B to C.
It also goes straight from E to F
There is no F flat there is no E sharp E sharp is F F flat is E
But if you need any chord
Just go to that string
