I got the name for Lucille actually, it started in a place called Twist, Arkansas.
And we used to play Twist, Arkansas every Friday and Saturday nights, we had no other place to play.
And during that time I didn't have any other place hardly to play.
So we played there most of, most each weekend I should say.
And it got kind of cold in the winter time there in Twist.
And they used to put a big pail, looked like a big garbage pail, they'd set it in the middle of the floor,
half filled it with kerosene, light the fuel and that's what we used for heat.
And generally people would dance around it.
But this particular night two guys started to fight and one of them knocked the other one over on this container.
And when they did it spilled on the floor.
Well it was already burning so when it spilled on the floor it looked like a river of fire.
So everybody started running outside, including myself.
But when I got on the outside then I remembered that I'd left my guitar so I went back for it.
And the building was a wood building and it was burning real fast.
So when I went back for it the building started to collapse around me.
So I almost lost my life trying to save the guitar.
The next morning we found that these two guys were fighting about a lady.
I never did meet her but I learned that her name was Lucille.
So I named my guitar Lucille to remind me not to do things like that again.
[Ab]
Thank you.
[Bbm] You've been so kind.
[Eb] You've been so good to us.
[Bbm] We thank you.
Thank [Eb] you so much.
Thank you.
[Ab]
I have a little special thing I'd like to do for you.
[Bb] If you have yours, set it a little closer [Bbm] to yours.
If
[Eb] you didn't bring yours with you [Bb] and you didn't [Bbm] borrow somebody else,
[Ebm] then do like we do up [Eb] here.
[Ab] Dream.
[Abm] [Ab] Someone really loves you.
[Bbm] Guess who?
[Eb] [Bbm] Someone [F]
[Db] really [Eb] cares.
[Ab] Guess who?
[Db] Open your [Dbm] heart.
[Gb] [Ab] Oh, then [Gb] surely [F] you'll see [Bbm] that the someone [Db] who [Eb] really [G] [Ab] cares is me.

[Fm] Stumbling [G] out here in [C] this no man's [F] land out [Bb] here.
But I know, [Eb] I know
[Bb] just gotta [F] be a better one.
[Bb] [Eb]
[Bb] Somewhere [F] [Bb] flying high.
Some joker clips my wing [Eb] just because he gets a kick out of [Ebm] doing those kind [Ab] of things.
[Bb] Hanging in [Gm] space or [Eb] just floating in mid air.
You [Bb] know it just ain't fair.
