Talk about
Playing technique you talked about just playing with the fingers a lot of guys are wanting to pop and
Play a rhythm with their bass for instance.
We've done a lot of stuff with Abraham Laborio.
Yeah, and you know the joke
With Abraham is you got a higher Abraham and a bass player because you know he's he's all over
The place, but that's Abe.
That's what he does.
Yeah, and then and then once
Once integrity came out with that
Yes, then everybody wanted to do that solo line and
And then and everybody wanted to pop like Abe was popping
Yeah, and and we got a whole generation of very very busy bass players
Trying to be Abraham Laborio right talk about that technique [G] and
How much uses that technique?
It's funny.
I rarely use it in and worship.
Maybe um maybe playing gospel or playing fusion
There's probably the only place I'll use it um and
with getting into slapping the thing that
People who are learning make the mistake of doing is forgetting the groove
The pulse when I'm playing with my fingers is still the pulse when I'm slapping so um
So here's a here's a groove.
I'll give you an example
Yes, [Eb] when you're slapping anytime you're getting technical.
They got great guys out there Victor Wooten
Stanley Clark and
They just always go back to the groove so um something that you can go home and practice
Usually with the first thing you do is um I would just start with the thumb
so is lining up with the string and
Pretty much just hitting off of it, so you hit the e string and
[E] Land on the a string so I'll sit there and just practice that for a while
[N]
with a click
[E]
[Abm]
[E] Meeting with my left hand
[Ebm]
[E] [Db] yeah, so
I'll start off just practicing [A] that and then you could probably go on YouTube and find out all the details
Look at Victor Wooten and so on they explain it probably much better than I can but um
whatever [Abm] you do whatever you're going for [G] practice and
And do it to a metronome
And never forget the groove [D] the the foundation so
[F] [C]
[Dm] [N]
