[G]
[Dm] [G] Hi folks Robbie Boone at Janet Davis acoustic music and I'm going to attempt another lick of the week and
Forgot my pain pills, but bear with me
Anyway, I guess you [Gb] surmise from the lick that I played twice [Gm] during that intro what we're going to do today
or what I'm going to attempt today and
and that's kind of a
[Gb] Oh
I'm going to [Ab] give JD crow
Credit for it because the first time I ever heard that
[N] lick was in ocean of diamonds on an old old Jimmy Martin record and
It's a good three-quarter time feel for some of those lonesome
Three-quarter time songs that [Em] there's really nothing you can play in there [G] except You know
So every once in a while it's kind of cool to go
[Dm] [G] You know it just adds some some flair, but anyway
Give me a little while.
I'll find some pain pills, and I'll come back and maybe splain [B] this to y'all.
We'll be right back
Okay, I'm gonna play this real slow for you, and then try to break it down note by [D] note string by string fret by fret
[Gb] and
see if we can get through this and
Let's see as slow as I can probably do it
[D] [G]
[Dm] [G]
And let's see if I can [D] tell you what I'm doing there now, okay?
You're going to start out on the fourth string at the fifth fret fifth fret
No, actually you're going to start out on the fourth string at the third fret by going [G]
and then walk up to the fifth
so
[Dm] fourth string third fret [F] fourth string fifth fret [D] and
then you're going [Ebm] to go to the third string at the third fret and
[Gm]
[Dm] Then you're going to go to the [G] third string on the fifth fret
[Gm] And you're going to [G] push up when you do
And bring that [A] up till you hear that
[C] Don't go
[G] Because you're not getting the [D] effect
You really you really got to push it till you [D] hear that other note come clear
[C] But [G] anyway recap fourth [F] string third fret
[A] fifth string fourth [G] string fifth fret
[Gm] third string third fret
[D] Third string and [G] push up on the fifth fret
Then you're going to go to the first string [Bb] first fret so let's recap that
Got it so far
Third string [G] excuse me fourth string third fret fourth string fifth [Gm] fret third string third fret third string push it up
then [D] first string third [F] fret
Then you're going to come [E] back to the third string on the fifth [G] fret
But to make this [Gm]
work out you you need to already have had it pushed [G] up
And [C]
bring [D] that note down [G]
[G]
[D] [G] so recap
After you get to [Bb] the
First string third fret [Gm] you're going to go back to the third string fifth fret
But you need to already have it [G] pushed up
[D] [G] Then you're going to the third [Gm] string third fret [Eb] and you're going to roll to the to the fourth fret
Let me see if I can get into this [C] backwards
[Bb]
[Bm] [Bb] [G] [Gb] And hopefully [D] you won't pull off the fourth string every time like I've done [Dbm] consistently
You know you're gonna mess up do it every time [Dm] and I got it covered
[G]
Did it again?
[C] Roll from the [Gb] third fret third string to the fourth fret fourth [D] fret
Third [Eb] string and then you're going to hit the fourth string on the fifth [G] fret
[Bb] [G] [Dm] That's it [Db]
[G] and when you get that up to speed and get that all together it should come out
[Gb] And and way to work that in a way to get used to that it's just chunk three [G]-quarter time
That will give you an interesting
three [A]-quarter time lick to
To put in a hole [B] when you don't know what else to put [Eb] in there
It don't fit in all three-quarter time [Ab] songs, but it fits in a whole bunch of them
JD did it and that's good enough for anybody so anyway.
That's a [N] that's about all I can say about that
Okay, there you go folks.
I hope that that
Was not excruciating for you, and I need to qualify this by saying I I'm not into pain pills
That's just the fact that it truly hurts me to do these we don't do drugs.
We don't condone drug use so
Please no hate mail, but anyway there [D] you go in a nutshell.
There's the lick practice it
Put it in any [G] time you get a chance, and I hope you have some fun with it.
Y'all take care
[Dm] [N]
