Backstage with Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, and Chris Cornell chords
Start Jamming...
Getting inducted into the Hall of Fame, it's been a double-edged kind of thing,
because for a long time our fans were like an angry mob, you know, rallying for us and just saying,
if they don't appreciate you, then screw that, you know.
[N] But then when it does come around, it's kind of a sweet, sweet feeling,
even though you sometimes, you know, it's not just a pure ray of happy sunshine feeling,
it's a, well, just as long as they're not trying to put us out to pasture after this, you know, kind of thing.
Boot hill.
No, it's rock knowledgement, with a capital R.
Rock knowledgement.
It tells us that the mark we've made on rock culture has been appreciated,
and that really means a lot, because we have worked really hard, continue to work really hard.
My first favorite band where I knew music was going to be important to me as a fan,
not as a musician, was the Beatles, and I was very, very into that, and I was very into [Bb] things
that somehow melodically and rhythmically and songcraft-wise were on a level like that.
And at the time that I first heard Heart, there wasn't a lot of that, you know, to be honest.
On rock radio, there was like good rock bands, and there was like a lot of strutting, sort of
cock-rock kind of stuff, but you didn't hear a lot of bands that could also sort of blur the lines
and go outside and bring in real musicality and real talent and songwriting that you know
is going to kind of go on and on and on.
And I remember just sort of a unanimous acceptance [A] with me and my [Ab] friends at that age,
and I was probably 12 or something, and thinking we're cool and being into rock music and
wearing bell bottoms and loving Heart right away, you know, without question.
Just a band that we put up there with any of our favorite rock bands, period.
And then the bonus was that there was this whole new thing to consider with Seattle being so
provincial and isolated that, and they're from here, how's that even possible?
Nobody cares about [D] us.
And that was important to me, especially after I became a musician, that okay, well, you know,
there's one example, you know, there's one or two, Steve Miller, Jimi Hendrix, where they can,
you know, we're not all going to always be ignored.
So it meant a lot to me.
Yeah, we're going to do three songs.
[Eb]
We tried to, you know, like how do you choose three out of all the years, you know,
on 13 albums or 14 or whatever it is.
And so we chose our first hit, Crazy on You, to do with the original lineup.
And then Dreamboat Annie that Nancy and I do together, just the two of us.
Actually, our keyboard player is going to back us up, but it's mostly Nancy and I.
And then Barracuda with our current lineup and Chris and Jerry Cantrell and Mike McCready and
Our Seattle brothers.
So it's going to be a great big old, boy, Barracuda is going to be teeth out.
Really loud.
It'll be loud.
It'll be loud.
It's going to be really loud.
