[Em] [Am] [E]
[Em]
[E] My [G] influences are anything and everything.
[F] They come from [B] [F#] anything that happens to me every [Fm] day or any day,
and they could [D#] be [F]
related to the sun or to people that I meet or to music that [E] I hear.
Anywhere.
[G] Influences are ongoing [E] and never stopping.
[Em]
[Am] [E]
I am [F#] very attracted [F] to classical music, you can say.
[F#] I love [C] classical music.
I [F] grew up on classical [E] music.
[F] [F#] I find it one of the biggest sources of [E] inspiration for [D] my writing.
[Em] [Am]
[E] [F#] Definitely not myself, [G] but probably Thelonious Monk [F] is my favorite jazz artist,
[A] because he's [F#] more himself than any [F] other artist that I've ever [G] heard,
jazz or not jazz, to be honest.
[D] [Em] [Am]
[E] One of the [F#] things I've discovered lately by a friend [F] that told me about him [G] is James Blake.
[E] One of [D#] his songs, There's a Limit to Your Love.
I love [Fm] his [Em]
voice there, and I love [F#] the [F] arrangement and [G] the production.
Very interesting artist.
[G#] [G]
[F#] Other than that, [F] many other [Em] things [F#] like
[F] flamenco or some classical music.
[D]
[Em] [Am] [E]
As soon as I was born, I started music, I guess, in some [G] ways.
But as a kid, when I was [F#] nine, I started really playing, and it never [D] stopped since.
[Em] [Am] [E]
[C] My [G] rhythmic [F#m] ideas, Gabor, [F] are [F#] coming [E] from [G] my listening to a lot [G#m] of different rhythmic [Fm] influences
like [F#] Eddie [Fm] [G] Palmieri and Latin jazz or Afro [F]-Caribbean or [C#] African music or reggae
[F#m] or anything [G] that's very rhythmic-rooted.
I've been listening and playing [F#] all these musics [G#] for a long time,
and that's shaped my rhythmic approach.
And to composing music as [F#] well.
All of these things are backbones of my musical ideas in my compositions.
When they are rhythmical [F] or when they are [E] even rubato, they come from the same place.
[Em]
[E]
[F#] There's a few.
I can't say there's only one, [G] but one of the biggest, biggest influences
and most original-sounding bass players to me is [F] Jaco Pastorius.
Still, I think I've been influenced by him [G#] the most.
[Em]
[Am] [E]
There's [F#] many that I [E] don't even know, I'm [D#] sure.
I'd like to play with
who would that be?
So [Fm] many.
Paco de Lucia.
[F#] I've played with him once, and I want to play with him again.
He's one of my favorite [A]
musicians.
[F#] And at this [G#] point, I can't think, [D#] [Fm] because there's so many.
I'll just give you [D] Paco.
[Em] [Am]
[E] [Fm] My link to Ladino [E] and Sephardic [F] music is mainly through my mother.
Her heritage [E] is [G] Greek [F#] via [F] Spain or [G] Sephardic roots.
She speaks Ladino [F#] and sings Ladino.
And I've been inspired mainly by her to [F] do those covers or to [F#] sing Ladino.
