Start Jamming...
The sing was Little Dye Bar and Dahlonega and it's really hard to spell Dahlonega so I demanded that it be in the title.
That way everyone can learn how to spell it.
And we had all been having a really awful day.
[G#m] Especially for 11 o'clock, it had gone especially terrible [C#] for such a short period of time.
And I decided [C] maybe we shouldn't write a song that day because I'd had a bad [N] day and Jesse Rice, one of the co-writers,
he had had a bad evening the night before and Nicolette Haver had a bad morning also.
So we got to just talking about our sob stories and who had had the worst [C#] day.
[D#]
Jesse said, I had a really, really bad day one time.
He said I was leaving Atlanta and his car broke down and he was just trying to sputter into the next place to stop.
And he wound up taking the Dahlonega exit and right off that exit was a place called the Crimson Moon.
It's a little bar, cafe place.
So he went in and Sean Mullins [A#] was in there playing a show.
And so everything's going to be alright, I'll stay and have a beer.
And he did, he stayed and had a [D#] beer and while he's there chilling with Sean Mullins, he meets a girl.
And they got married like two or three years later.
So he was like that was the worst day ever and I stuck it out.
So maybe we should stick this out today.
He's like but anyway, I know we're not going to write because it's not in the cards and we're just writing things down as fast as we can.
No, no, no, I think [C#] we got it.
[G#] All we had to do was make it rhyme.
[F#] To [C#]
the backpack, first love leader.
[F#] The heart cracked, double down drinker.
[C#] The homesick, the grass that's [F#] greener at a slice of mama's peach pie.
[C#] To the flat broke, gas cushion, gas money.
[F#] The worker bee that ain't getting no [C#] honey.
Missing someone all the while [G#] running, scurrying for the brighter lights.
Here's [C#] to the breakups that didn't break us.
The [F#] breakdown, long term that takes you.
[C#] To a little dive bar in Dahlonega.
Hear a [F#] song from a band that saves you, [A#m] man.
It's a hit rock bottom, [G#]
smoke them if you [F#] got them.
Nothing's going right.
[A#m] Making the best of [G#] the worst day kind of night.
[C#] [F#]
[C#]
[F#] [C#] We've all got a number, we don't want to drunk dial.
Good [F#] friend we ain't seen in a while.
And a slow dance, left in these [G#] boots.
Ain't a chance at putting down new roots.
Here's [C#] to the breakups that didn't break us.
[F#] The breakdown, long term that takes you.
[C#] To a little dive bar in Dahlonega.
[F#] Hear a song from a band that saves you, man.
