Yes, this is the mechanical band we were talking about at the beginning of the show.
Mike Brigida, good morning Mike.
Good morning John.
Season's greetings to you.
Thank you.
Would you introduce your friends?
We have Cleve Pozar over here who's from Boston.
He's our fabulous percussionist.
We have Mr.
John Shiken who's from L.A.
He came in from the coast just for the show.
Well, to give the folks an idea of what we're talking about,
would you do a quick
This machine here sounds like the Russians coming.
Yeah.
Well, they're all different synthesizers.
We have nine different synthesizers here.
We're trying to approximate the sound of a full synthetic orchestra.
So that when we play our different tunes, you'll hear perhaps John playing a trombone part.
I'll be playing some brass chords, string chords, bells.
Okay.
All right.
You play the brass.
You're going to do the trombone, John?
Well, we'll do that when we do the first tune.
But the different sound effects, we have the bass effect.
We have a little tap dancer getting shot [Ab] here.
We have sort of a screech brass over [Cm] here.
[Ebm] Something [Eb] like that.
Or we have a little sequence that sort of plays by itself.
[Fm]
[Ab]
[Eb] Stop.
Mike, what do you say?
When we use this word synthesizer, can't even say it, synthesizer, what is it?
Synthesizer, there's no mechanical parts inside.
These are all transistors and resistors and all electronics,
and they each perform a different little function.
And they all have a different function.
And they make the different acoustic sounds of the orchestra.
All right.
This is something.
Three guys in here, listen to the sound that comes out.
You're going to take the [G] atrium?
First tune is Duke Ellington, take the atrium.
All right.
