[G] [D]
[G] Spend [A] all your time [Em] waiting
[D] Oh, [G] that second chance
[D] I pray that [G] we'll make it [A] okay
Hi
[C] there, thanks for stopping by.
This chord tutorial is dedicated to Angel by Sarah McLachlan.
I'm going to show you how to play all the chord forms used in that song.
You can [C#m] use the link at the bottom of the page to go to my song tutorial for Angel.
The first two chords we're going to be using are a D and [D]
[F#m] a G slash D.
[G] Those are the two chords used in the intro.
[C#] We'll be strumming them from the A string like this.
This is a [D] D.
That's a textbook [A] D.
Most people know that one.
[Am] You know, second fret, third fret, second fret.
[D] We're using the high E, the B string, and the D string.
The next chord is [Am] G slash B.
You simply bar two strings on the [N] bottom there, the third fret.
That's the B and the high E.
Then bring a finger in and put it.
I'm using my middle finger for that.
Putting that finger on the fourth fret on the G string.
We're going to strum that from [D] here too.
That's your G slash D.
[G] Like that.
That's the sound you're looking for.
So you've got [D] D followed [A] by G slash [G] D.
Like [A] that.
[G#] Those are the chords for the intro.
The next chords will be used for the verses.
We've got an E minor 7.
Place one [B] finger on the [Em] A string at the second fret.
That is your E minor 7.
The next [N] chord is a D suspended 2 slash F sharp.
It's going to be made this way.
[A]
Like that.
Now I've got my first finger [G#] up on the F sharp [Am] note, second fret.
My ring finger [D] is on the D note, third fret on the B string.
And my middle finger is on the A note [A] on the G string at the second fret.
[C#] That's D suspended [D] 2 [A] slash F sharp.
Next chord is a [G] textbook G, which is a G chord.
Just like that.
Now I've got two fingers down on the third fret on the B and high E string.
And then a finger on the third fret [B] on that low E string.
And then the second [G] fret on the A string.
That's my G.
Next chord is a B minor flat 6.
That's going to be played this way.
Like that.
Now when we're making that transition in the song, we go from a D like this.
Just start with a D [D] chord.
And then you're going to take this finger and move it up to the [G] A string at the second [G#] fret.
And then you're going to get your B minor [G] flat 6.
Like that.
Okay, you're going to strum it from the A string.
Next chord is a textbook A.
[A] Just like that.
[E] Second fret, B string, G string, and D string.
[A]
The [C] next chord that is out of the box is an F sharp minor 7.
That's going to [C#] be at the second fret.
[F#m] Hold that down.
You can play it like that.
Or you can bring your thumb over and play that [A] and mute [F#m] that A string.
You get a nice low note.
Low F sharp.
That's F sharp minor 7.
[B] We're going to have to have a C add 9, which [Em] is like this.
[Cm] It's kind of like our G.
[G] And we'll be going from G to C add 9.
You make a G chord, move these two fingers down by one [Em] string, and that's your C add 9.
We'll be going G, C add 9, back to G.
Okay?
Now that about covers it.
Those are all the chords that we'll [C#] be using for Angel by Sarah McLachlan.
