Hey guys, welcome back to another free piano tutorial by PianoPlayer.com.
This is [F] David here and today we're going to play the song Back to [Ab] Black [N] by Amy Winehouse.
With a very nice soulful groove, so let me show you how it gets done.
Okay guys, so we're going to start [Am] with the intro, which is basically the four chords
that make the whole [Dm] song.
We choose a [Bb] very high inversion in the right hand [C] above the middle C, [Dm] so not this one,
but one octave higher.
And we start [B] with D minor in the root position.
[Dm] D, F and A.
And we [Eb] play two bars, [A] eight counts for each chord.
[Dm] One, two, three, four.
One, two, three, four.
This is the D minor.
With the left [Abm] hand we're going to play [D] the bass, D.
[Db] And here's how we're going to [B] play the groove.
[C] The groove is built out of two bars.
The first one is [Dm] both right, left, both right.
I'll show it to you again.
Both right, left, both right.
[Bb] The second bar is [Dm] both right, left, right, left, right.
[Abm] So now I'm going to show you how both bars are
[A] combined together.
[Dm] Both right, left, both right.
Both right, left, both left, right.
This is [Bm] the rhythm, okay?
Now we combine an interesting [Gm] bass line along.
So we play [Dm] both right, left, both right.
Both right, left, [C] both left, right.
And in the left we play a C note in the left hand.
[Dm] One last time.
Both right, left, both right.
Both right, left, [C] both C, right.
Then we move to the next chord, which is a G [Gm] minor.
So D, G and B flat and G in the left hand.
We play both right, left, both right.
Both right, left, both [Ab]
A flat, right.
I'm going to show you the combination [A] of all four bars.
[Dm] So both right, left, both right.
Both right, left, [C] both left, right.
[Gm] Both right, left, both right.
Both right, left, [Ab] right, left, right.
And we move to A flat and then we move to a B [Bb] flat chord.
D, F and B flat with B flat in the bass.
And we do the same groove.
Both right, left, both right.
Both right, left, both left, right.
Moving to an A chord, C sharp, [A] E, A and A in the bass.
Both right, left, both right.
Both right, left, right, left, right.
And if you want to make it more interesting,
you can make it with both right, left, right, [C] left, [Db] right, left.
[Dm] [A] We play [C] A, C, C [D] sharp, [A] D.
Both right, left, [C] right, C, [Dbm] right, C sharp.
And back to the same groove and then starts also the [Db] verse.
[Dm] Right, left, both right.
Left, right, C.
[Gm] Right, left, both right.
Both caps, [Ab] E's [Bb] and then wet.
Right, left, both right.
Both right, left, right, left, [A] right.
Both right, left, both right.
Both right, left, both right.
