song up, [G] but um, and John and I have never really done this song together, but I wrote
this song with Chris Eaton, and um, we were just talking about how your feelings about
anything change with time, [D#] and, [G] and about Christmas.
Now [C#] you'll know why Vince usually
plays guitar, [G] because I, even though I've played for years, I'm a very average, so give
great hope to anyone in the audience [D] that wants to have a [C] career in music.

I [G] need a silent [C] night,
[D] a holy [G] night, [D] [Em] to hear an angel [C] voice, through [G] the chaos and the [D] noise.
[G]
I need a midnight
[C] clear, a [D] little peace right [Em] here, to [C] end this crazy [G] day with a silent night.
December comes,
then [C] disappears, [Am] faster and faster [G] every year, then my own mother, deep [C] this rain, will be

[Dm] What was it like back there in [A#]
Bethlehem?
It was like a little Christmas, with [F] peace on earth, [A] goodwill toward men.

You're [G] letting [D] John take this part, right?
[Bm] Yeah.

I like that.
What [N] Vince was trying
Yes.
Vince was trying to tell
You were
trying to tell us about Karina's part.
I was trying to tell you, but I got choked up.
You know, for every mother, they hear their child
I can't even talk about the fact
that she speaks in the middle of the song.
See, I got choked up just trying to tell you
this is where she talks.
But I'm so glad we did that, to capture her little seven-year-old
voice.
She's actually not reading it, because I wanted it to sound more
Not
Sound
it out.
And so I actually knelt in the studio, and she was standing by the mic, and I would
say, and there were shepherds out in the field, and then she would imitate the way I was saying
it, and then we edited me out.
And I knew she was going to someday be a studio rat,
because she couldn't quite figure out what we were doing, and we went in the control
room, and Brown Bannister was the producer, Steve Bysher the engineer, and they compressed
it all without me, and it went through one time.
It was a little bit rocky, and she went,
and I said, oh, I can do it better than that, and she ran back in there.
I thought anybody
that's ever been in a studio thinks they can do it better.
She did a very nice job.
