Well [G#m] I'm back again, Jimmy Heffernan here.
We're going to learn Amazing Grace.
This is
a nice instrumental to play solo, and that's the way I've arranged it.
Good to play, you
know, when somebody says, what is that thing, how do you play it, you know.
You don't want
to be playing just scale licks, so it's a nice arrangement to [F#] sit and mellow out with
[D#] and also show [D] what the dobro can sound like all by itself.
[E]
It's tuned with the G string
tuned down to E.
That's a [F#] E [E] minor 7th tuning, and I first heard it [F] with Mike Aldridge in
a song called Killing Me [D#] Softly.
He used it in The St.
Grass also.
[F] And Greg Booth, aka
[E] Slider, has [D#] been using it a lot to come up with arrangements of a lot of different songs,
Beatles songs, [F#] whatever.
And he's done some great stuff [D#] with it, so check that out on
YouTube.
But, back to me, and Amazing Grace.
