Alvarez 5043 guitar review, with song, Wide River To Cross chords
Start Jamming...
Hello, I'd like to play a demonstration of my Alvarez 5043 Acoustic Red Knot guitar.
The guitar was made back in the early 1990s.
It's a copy of a Martin V28.
It's a Louis Perthoules lawsuit guitar.
Alvarez in Japan made copies of the Martin line, the V45 and V28.
To do this demonstration, I would like to sing a song that was written by Buddy Miller.
The name of it is Wide River to Crawl.
It was also made famous by Lee Van Helm, who just recently passed away, drumming the band.
Sometimes even Buddy would sing it in harmony, you know.
It's a gorgeous, very melancholy song.
It makes reference to a soldier on the road coming home lost in the Civil War.
[N] It's a beautiful wide river to crawl.

[Em] [G]
[D]
Well, there's sorrow in the wind going down the road I've been.
[Em] I can hear it cry [G] as the shadow seals [D] the sun.
Well, I can't look back now.
Come too far to turn around.
And there's still a [G] race ahead that [D] I must run.
I'm only [Em] halfway home.
[Bm] I've got to [D] journey on [Em] to a place where [G] I can find the [D] things of love.
[G] I've come a long, [D] long road.
Still [Bm] I've got miles [D] to go.
[Em] I've got a wide, [G] wide river [D] to crawl.
[Em]
[G] [D]
I have stumbled, I have strayed all across the cracks I've made.
[Em] In the murmuring [G] that my heart may cause.
Well, I'm just a refugee.
Won't you say a prayer for me?
Who's even [Em] sometimes [G] the strongest [D] soldier falls.
[Bm] I'm only [E] [D] halfway home.
I've got [Bm] to [A] journey [D] on [Em] to a place [G] where I can find the [D] things of love.
I've [Bm] come a [A] long, [D] long road.
Still I've got [Bm] miles to go.
I've [Em] got a wide, [G] wide river [D] to crawl.
I've [B] got a [Em] wide, [G] wide river [D] to crawl.
I've got [Em] a wide, wide [G] river [D] to crawl.
