A quick backstory.
We don't talk about this much with this song, but this song was one that we knew this was
an important track for the Blackbird record.
And it was really just a, there's something about it that was special.
And so when it came time to do the lyrics, you want, your goal is to tie like a real,
you know, good musical melodic idea with a lyric that really means something to you.
And that's what I was kind of struggling with.
I was trying to find that, that inspiration.
So interestingly enough, unfortunately we had this hurricane back in the United States.
It was Hurricane Katrina when it hit New Orleans.
And so we were just watching all of this.
It was heartbreaking watching all of this stuff unfold.
And so I remember I stayed up watching the news and I couldn't sleep.
I don't know why.
I don't think I've ever talked about this.
I couldn't sleep at all because I was just really, all those images were kind of weighing
on me, which is where the, I couldn't sleep.
I had to listen.
That's where that comes from.

So this whole song was then that lyrically it was written, I think pretty much that entire.
And I don't think I went to bed.
I think I finally fell asleep about 10 AM after working on the lyrics.
