I was a bit annoyed.
I was a bit angry.
But I had a sort of an idea that something was
happening but [N] wasn't too sure of what it was.
And I can't really explain, you know, the
whole situation within a one interview because many things were happening at the same time,
which didn't make sense.
But it all came together when Graham says, well, I'm actually leaving.
The situation before that was that he, you know, when we went to America for the first time,
I think that Graham fell in love with America.
But I think it was when we went over to the
West Coast and we did the Whiskey a Go Go.
I mean, I met Buffalo Springfield over there.
And I remember Stephen Stills asking me to go back to the hotel with them, which I did.
They wanted me to listen to their first album, Buffalo Springfield.
And I remember they had this
huge, this is really funny, they had this huge wardrobe, you know, which they put two speakers in
and they asked me to sit in the middle of it.
I mean, I'd been at the, I'd had a few
drinks in the Whiskey a Go Go, so I thought, yeah, OK, let's do that.
And as they closed the door,
they sort of sent all the smoke into the cupboard with me.
And I sat there and I was [F#] there and I was
absolutely blown away, especially with Neil's song, Expected to Fly, which is one of my favourite
songs.
And I thought [G] the album may have actually been a little bit of an idea that the Beatles
may have pinched because there's a lot of things happening on Buffalo Springfield, right again,
with sort of carnival things and etc.
But I fell in love with Buffalo Springfield straight away.
And they came to see, well, we did a gig [F#] again, the Whiskey, and every group was there, conceivable,
come from Los Angeles, you know, the Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield, the [A] Byrds,
the Mama Cass and the Poppers.
And, you know, and they were all there to see us.
And Grant got into the mixture, you know, and then he palled out with David and [F] he palled out
with Stephen.
And I do remember being in a hotel called the Beverly Comstock one night and they'd
all come back to the hotel and I was really tired.
So I went to bed and Dave was sat in the front room
practising songs and things.
