So I met this guy Andrew Delaney and he was one of my favorite songwriters in the whole competition
And so we got to chatting and he's like we should write a song together.
I was like, yes we should
And he's like I've always wanted to write a yodeling song, but I've never known a [G] yodeler who could sing it
I was like well, let's [D] write ourselves a [E] yodeling song and uh
This isn't the same kind of yodeling song you guys are used to hearing me sing
But [Ab] it's still got the [Abm] elements of the yodels.
He wanted to write a song about [F] yodeling in a canyon
Because how else you know, can you make yodeling [N] cooler than doing it in a canyon?
So we had to figure out
Okay, why are we in a canyon?
Well, it came up with a very depressing reason [Dm] why?
And we wrote this song around it.
We call it Echo Canyon
The
[Ab] [Dm]
moon hardly shines down in Echo Canyon
[C] It just hangs around
About an hour a night
And a sliver of sky
Between every horizon
[C] You don't even notice
[Dm] To pass me by
Crickets [D] calling
Across Echo Canyon
[C] A jelly wind moans
[Dm]
Joining the song
Then a coyote howls out there in the distance
[C] I ain't going nowhere
[E] So [Dm] just sing along
[F]
Who's [C] on a [Dm] holiday?
[F]
Who's the [C] one who's blue?
[D]
[Dm] [D] The lights go out
Out toward [Dm] Echo Canyon
[C] I know you're on those days
[D] When the blues get me [Dm] down
When looking to find
My lost inspiration
[C] Where there's nothing but nothing
[D] Miles around
[Dm]
[D] I got a snake [C] and a spook
My sweet little
[D]
I ended up wrong
[Dm] Now the day turns to night
Down here at the bottom
[C] Where we're shivering and singing
[D]
Just trying to keep
[Dm] The [F] blues
[C] [Dm]
