Start Jamming...
Hey, what's up you guys Marty here from guitar jams and give you a real quick riff a matic lesson
Which is basically my term for just teaching you an easy tiny main little riff to just have fun
You know kind of more for a beginner that's trying to have some recognizable things to play
So I've got this guitar here and it's in standard tuning
But what we want to do is we want to drop it down to drop D
And the way to do that is one with a tuner you can just tune this first string here
Down to the letter from the from an E down to a D
But if you you know another good thing that you can do is tune it with your ear and you would go like this
Play your open D string
One two three third string down D string
And then you're gonna play your low E and you're gonna lower it to match that D watch this
[E]
[D]
And the trick is to go lower than the pitch and bring it up.
It's easier to tune it that way watch
[B] And [Bm] when [Db]
[D]
you get it you'll hear this little
[Bb]
And when that warbling stops and it sounds like the two notes are smooth together there's no
[Dbm]
[F] [Gb] Then that means that it's in tune what you get with drop D is when you play these top two strings here
You're gonna hear just an open power [D] chord [A]
and that's gonna enable us to play this riff.
It's real fun and easy
[N]
The one unusual thing about this riff is it's in it's counted in seven which means
One two three four five six seven one two three four five six seven when most the songs are in an even
Kind of counting pattern one two three four five six seven one two three four five six seven one two three four five six
Seven so what we want to do is we're gonna start with just everything.
We're only strumming these top two strings and we go
We're gonna just hit the top two open strings [A] first like [G] that and we go
[D] Dada and [Eb] [A] all we have to do is we go bah bah bah
Then the first fret I'm just covering with my index [D] finger
[Eb] [D] [E]
[Eb] [A] [D] [Eb]
[B] [F]
[D] [Eb] [E] [Eb]
[B] [Gb]
[Eb] [D] [E]
[D] [Eb]
[Eb] [E]
[B] [D] [Em]
[G] [E] [D]
[E] [C] [D]
[Ebm] [E]
[Em] [Ab] And I will say this this song actually came out right before I started playing guitar
I do remember going to there was this place called CD store or the you know music store
We bought albums.
I went there and bought this album the first day it came out.
I remember I was a fan
It was the 90s, you know, what are you gonna do?
That's what we got.
[Eb] [E]
[D] [E]
[Em] [D] [Eb]
[Eb] [E] [E]
[Eb] [Bbm] [D] [E]
[D]
[Bb] [B]
[Dm] All right, that's it.
Have fun with that tiny little riff
Hopefully it's another little tasty morsel to add to your arsenal
