So, hey, what's up?
This is Stanley Jordan and the instrument that I'm playing is a Vigée
Arpège.
Vigée is a wonderful luthier.
He lives in Paris.
And Arpège is this model.
It's a discontinued guitar, so I cherish it very, very greatly.
And it's got some interesting
features.
It's [Ab] got a graphite neck all the way through.
It goes to about here.
This blue
tape, that's just there so that my belt doesn't scratch the back of the guitar.
You might
be wondering, well, what about the gum from the tape?
Doesn't that hurt the guitar?
But
actually this tape is the kind you get in an art store, like if you're doing markup
for artworks.
So it's not really all that sticky.
So don't worry.
The tape doesn't hurt
the guitar.
One of the things that I should note about this instrument is that it's got
very strong pickups.
So when I'm playing like [Bb] this, I can get a good clear sound.
[B] And I
just recently [C] discovered clear tone strings.
I'm using clear tone [C] strings.
And I love the
clear tone strings because they do give me a great sound.
It's very strong and also very
sweet sounding as well.
And I find I don't have to work so hard because the strings speak
and it's almost like telepathy.
It's like they know what I'm trying to do and they actually
help me accomplish my goal so I don't hurt my hands.
So just a little bit about the instrument
and the strings.
