_ Well, it's time to indulge in some nostalgia.
Remember _ 1927?
I really got that out.
The band with the, you know, unforgettable hits.
Love this music.
They were a big feature of the 80s.
But just in case you don't recall them, here's a little flashback.

It's been 26 years since [C] 1927 formed, and they remain one of Australia's most iconic bands.
[D] They entered the charts with this pop rock classic back in 1988.

It was an instant hit, picking a [Em] number six and earning them a place in ARIA award history.

Oh, God, no.

Hey, let's talk a little bit of music.
Eric, of course, the [F] original member.
Back in the day, mate, things were flying high.
Madness.

Well, you know, I came from basically complete obscurity into a band that was
really, really famous.
And the kind of person that I am, I'm virtually a recluse.
So, you know, being in the limelight and all that kind of thing is pretty strange for me.
Yeah, right.
Yeah.
Okay.
So, Simon, you've been with the band for the last four years.
How does it feel to sort of then carry this classic music into the future?
Well, I [A] think it's a great honor to play songs that people have had
part of their [Am] lives for the last 20 years.
You [C] still see it in their faces at every gig, the affection that they have for the song.
So it's just a lot of fun.
Is the new stuff as exciting [G] for you, Eric?
Because the _ times change.
[B] Are you mellow with it [A] now as opposed to being_
Oh, yeah, I'm okay with it.
Yeah, yeah.
I [C] don't have a problem with it.
I mean, music is _ the [G] biggest part of my life.
I couldn't be without it.
So, yeah, I just [A] have to deal with [Em] it. _ _
Simon, did you have a [A] favorite song coming into the band?
[A] Yeah, but it's not by 1927.
I did.
[Cm] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's by Elvis.
Hang on.
Let me say this.
Did [G] you have a favorite 1927 song that you came in with?
I probably had a couple, [Em] but Compulsory Hero always rang true to [E] me.
_ So that's one that always _ kind of always hit me here.
And Eric, [G] what's the one the fans always want you guys [G] to play?
Oh, If I Could.
If you know.
Yeah, yeah.
It's everybody's favorite song.
Apparently it's [B] everybody's favorite wedding march as well.
It would have been huge with the weddings back in the day.
Why do you think [Gb] the fans have stayed so supportive over the years?
Because you guys have chopped and [B] changed and dipped in and dipped out.
And [E] they've stayed true.
I don't know why they are, but I mean, [Db] I'm a music fan as well.
So all the music that I've loved over the years, I stick with because [B] it's something
that rang true with me at [Ab] one point.
And I don't think you really [A] get over that.
You're right.
Well, you [C] have some exciting news for us because your new album [G] has just been released today.
[E] Well, it's actually The Essentials, which contains some track from the new album.
The new album is out on_ August 9th.

No, this is the new album with all the new tracks.
This is a brand new_
Yeah, it's like a new cake.
So the one that's out today, right today, available now on iTunes is the 927 Essentials.
That's got all the hits that people know from the albums.
Oh, cool.
And it's got two of the new songs which we've put on there as well.
See, that's when you confuse us when you release two albums in the same decade.
[G] See, they had to sync the two new ones on the best of so that you got a slice of the action, right?
[Em] Oh, well, that wasn't the reason why, but_
No, I'm joking.
You're also touring from this month, right?
Tell us about that.
Yeah, _ well, we've been on tour for the [Bb] last four years, but [G] we're heading up to Les Hottes,
theatre [D] restaurants, _ next weekend.
And from there on, I don't have a list of dates, [Gb] but we've got squillions of dates.
We're going to [B] put all those on our website.
