125 YEAR OLD GUITAR BARN FOUND chords
Start Jamming...
How's it going everybody this is America for Hamp here.
This here is a guitar that has to be over 100 years old with it's homemade wooden case
and the guitar is all homemade.
Neck's got widdle marks [N] they must have ordered the hardware.
I believe the tuning pegs are some sort of ivory or bone.
It's got some damn nice old inlay and it was at one time it must have really been one hell
of a nice guitar.
Anyway the bridge back here is all homemade and if you'll look close right here this is
a square nail that's underneath there that keeps it up.
Anyway that's it had a string on it.
What I did is just put a new set of strings on and I'm left handed so I turned them upside
down and I can tell you that this here this guitar was in this barn you know for 75 years
no one's looked at it.
It's kind of fallen apart the body is so I kind of got some duct tape on it and you know
the neck's kind of wobbly so it don't really stay in tune but it definitely has never had
any rock and roll ever played on it ever and what we're going to do is we're going to teach
it a short clip or two here of some good rock and roll just so this guitar knows what it
needs to be playing.
Anyway here's the back of it too and I got some tape on it it's got some really good
patina and had some nice [Db] inlay and definitely older than the hills.
The neck you can see is got whittle marks on it where they [Gb] carved it out and it's kind
of pointy and this hardware up here this is all brass.
It's all nice and brass it's all you know tarnished and these here have to be like some
sort of [Bm] bone or ivory they're definitely not [Db] plastic this guitar is long before [Gb] plastic.
Another thing cool on this here case is you know it looks like a coffin but besides that
[A] all the corners he's got tin on and all [B] the corners he's got tin on them all you know
actually the whole thing was well built pretty good and if you do look at it you can kind
of see the neck [E] is a little crooked there but [N] we're going to see if we can play a short
clip of some rock and roll and here we go.
Grab it set her down over here a second.
Set this camera down I don't cut and edit stuff I'm just I'm real here we go.
Set that down there.
Grab a pick here I got a pick.
Now okay I never thought you know what the hell am I going to play.
Okay [Fm] here's the let's just this is [C]
[Bb] [F] gonna tune it up first if it does might not [A] stay in tune
very long it's about ready to fall apart you know the body is pretty bad on it the [Eb] insides
kind of falling apart [Ab] on it you can see it's getting pretty [Gb] pretty tough shape but probably
restorable take the duct tape off let's see this guitar [Db] here [Ebm] never played rock we're gonna
play rock on it [Fm] let's see [F] well let's just try this one all
[Eb]
[F] right [Eb] there we go [F] strings
[C] really don't quite bend right this nail here I may have [E] put this in upside [B] down or something
I'm not really sure how they would have had that that nail after I took it apart I should
have looked closer when I put it back together to see for sure don't quite seem right I got
a couple [E] strings a little far [Bbm] off there but [Gm] let's just see if we can play them all.
[Ebm]
[Bb] [Bb]
[Eb]
[Bb] [C] [C]
[F] [Eb] [Gb]
[C] [Eb] [Ab] [C]
[G] Here's the deal I can tell you right now that that's the first [F] time this guitar has been
played in at least 75 years this guitar [Dbm] here has been sitting in that case in a barn [Bb] out
in the country and they were gonna bulldoze it all over and I went in there and this guitar
was in there [Ab] so this is America for hemp saying cannabis hemp number one food fuel fiber paper
medicine shelter you name it we need to get cannabis hemp legal so we can start this country
