Thank you.
So, the ironic thing about declaring your happiness is that [D] life doesn't just stay where
you are, it keeps going.
I hate to break it to you, but happiness should never be the goal.
Maybe hope should, but happiness shouldn't.
And I [Bb] guess what I want to say to sum all that up and say it really quickly [B] is that
[N] don't let being sad or being upset about something take your hope away from you, ever.
I'm preaching to myself just as much [Eb] as any of you because sometimes life just hits you
[D] right in the face and it's alright.
Because [Eb] I for one think it's kind of cool [N] to have a black eye every now and then.
I think it looks good.
It shows you've been places, you've done things.
And I think it's definitely okay to have scars.
And it's definitely okay to hurt and be in pain and show it.
And that's why we have friends in this life.
[Am] And that's why we have music.
[E]
[N] I've been so so blessed [C] and excited all the time to be able to combine friendship and
music into one thing for most of my life now, half my life really.
And you're going to hate this so you might want to turn around if you're going to hate it.
But you know, four years ago when we were writing what is my favorite Paramore record
at the moment, it won't be for long because when we put out a new one that will be my favorite.
When K.O. and I were writing those songs I saw him go through a season where life really
hit him in the face and I think that a sign of real friendship is when somebody hurts
with you and hurts really hard with you.
And so it [F] hurt me to watch him be in pain.
[Db] So we wrote this song [B] and it sort of came out of the blue [Ab] and it happened so fast that
sometimes [N] I don't even remember writing it.
What I really remember is all the ups and downs we've been through that we've made it through together.
And this past year has been a year that for me I never want to relive again.
And at the same time I would do it again if it meant understanding what having a real
friend in this life feels like.
And Taylor thank you so much for just being awesome.
Yes, you can change.
That's good.
Thank you very much.
[B] It is an honor to play [G] music with all the people that are here.
It's been an [Db] honor to play [B] music with Josh, with Zach, with Jeremy, everyone that's [F] ever
played in the Paramore.
[Em] It's such an [N] honor man, you know, to have friendship in music and rolling the one thing
is like only God, you know, only God can do that.
And [G] I'm just glad that it's not over [N] because I want to keep doing it.
So we're going to play a song that now means more than it did four years ago.
And [B]
I just [B] sing along.
[F] You can help me.
There's not a [Dm] single word in the [F] whole world that could [Dm] describe the hurt
The dust [F] that just comes back and forth and ripping [C] through the skin
If there ever was a way [G] to love, [F]
a way [C] to love
[F] And I, I hate to see your heart break
[C] I hate to [F] see your eyes get dark
The rest, they come when I've been there before
And I, I hate to see your heart break
I hate to [Bb] see your eyes [F] get dark
The rest, they come when I've been there before
Love, [Dm] love is hard
To people [F] who aren't kind
And heroes [Dm] who are blind
And expecting [F] perfection
To be scenes who want to [C] knock the slides with
To me, how are you [F] to know?
Oh, how are you [C] to know?
Oh, oh, oh
[F] And I, I [C] hate to see [F] your heart break
I hate to see your eyes get dark
The rest, they [F] come when I've been there before
And I, I hate to see your heart break
I hate to see your eyes get dark
The rest, they come when I've been there before
[Dm]
For all [F] the air that's in [C] your lungs
[Dm] [D]
For all [F] the joy that is [C] to come
For all [F] the things that you're alive to feel
In [C] my mind, your heart, and you
Oh, how are you [F] to know?
Oh, how are you [C] to know?
[F]
[C] To see your heart, [F] to see your heart break
I hate to see your heart break
I hate to see your eyes get dark
The rest, they [G] come when I've been there [F] before
[G]
[F] [G]
[F] I hate to see your heart break
[G] [F]
[G]
[F]
[Bb] I hate to see your eyes get dark
The rest, they come when I've been there before
For all the air that's in your lungs
For all the joy that is to come
For all the things that you're alive to feel
In my mind, your heart, and you
Oh, how are you to know?
[Bb] [F] Oh, how are you to know?
[G] How are you to know?
