Chords for "Viva La Vida" How to Play on Piano for Beginners

_ _ _ Hi, beginning piano players, if you like a little riff you could play along to a tune with.
This is Viva La Vida by Chris Martin in Coldplay.
I'll just show you the basic way to play this and you can play along with the band either
on mp3 player or your laptop beside the piano or keyboard. _ _ _ _ _
[Eb] It's an easy song.
There's a [Ab] repetitive four chords that go through [Fm] the whole tune right across the intro and everything.
[Db] I'll teach you how [Eb] to do this real easy in a [Ab] few minutes, okay?
_ Oops, [Fm] I started wrong.
Here we go.

[Ab] _ _ _ _ _ [Fm] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Db] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Fm] _ _ _

_ [Fm] _ _ _ _ [Db] _ _ _
_ _ _ Wow, great song, eh? _
_ What we're going to do, all we have to do is play four chords there.
You saw me doing them.
_ _ [Ab]
Sound like this.
_ [Fm] Here's the third _ and the fourth.
_ _ [Db] One, _ _ [Ab] two, you don't have to memorize [Fm] this yet, three, _ _ four.
I just want to show you there's [Db] four distinct _ _ _ _ chords.
First one's like that, _ [Eb] _ _ second, _
_ [Ab] _ _ third, _ [Fm] _ _
[F] fourth.
Those are the four chords I want you to learn and [Db] with a bit of a rhythm to them, right? _ _
_ The harder _ part is the left hand because the right hand _ just _ [Fm] plays this. _ _ _ _
It only [Db] changes once, right?
You only have to make _ one change.
[Ab] It _ starts on the A flat _ _ _ and D flat, [Db] those two notes. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[Ab] _ This one stays the same through the second part and this one moves down one to the C.
[C] _ _ _
[Db] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[E] _ _ If you get good at that, [Abm] your mind can forget about the right hand as you're playing and
sort [G] of concentrate on what's going on then in the left.
Let me just play it again.
You don't have to memorize it yet.
[Db] Watch. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[Fm] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ The left hand's always [B] kind of moving where the right hand's playing the same thing across
two of the chords, okay?
Like that.
[Db] _ _ The left hand goes like that.
Get your hand over.
I want you to play with the same fingers as this. _ _
_ Second [Eb] finger on this D flat _ up to an E flat [Ab] and then use your middle finger, hit the [Eb] A
flat there in the middle of three [F] blacks. _ _
There's your final note down here in F, okay?
That white right next to three blacks.
_ _ [Db] _ So _ _ _ _ _ [Fm] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
[C] those are the four.
[Db] Let's go slow with them and let's play them together.
You ready?
Remember what we wanted over here was the A flat and the D flat.
_ _ At that same time, we're going to play this _ bass note. _
_ _ You know what?
I'm not going to tap them because, _ _ I don't know, it's giving me and you a headache, I'm sure.
_ Let me just play the chords held down.

_ _ _ _ _ That's where we change the right hand down to the C and go down here with our middle
finger on A flat.
See how that looks?

_ And again, that stayed put and I moved from here to F.
_ _ Let's do [Db] that together.
Ready?
_ _ _ _ The second one, _
_ [Eb] _ _ _ _ chord three, [Ab] remember the right hand moves down here and the left hand
goes to here. _
_ _ _ _ This stays, [Fm] this goes down to F. _ _ _ _ _
_ _ So just [Db] start by holding them down. _
_ _ _ [Ab] _ _ _ _ _
_ Remember the move. _ _ _ _
[Fm] _ _ _ _ _ [Db] Once you get that moving a little quicker, _ _ _ [Ab] _ try it again.

_ Now we _ [Db] introduce that rhythm. _ _ _ _ _ _
