"The Twitty's" Joni, Kathy, Michael Twitty chords
Start Jamming...
Hey, Twitty.
Don't you enjoy being a mother?
[Eb] Here's Kathy.
Eric, you guys all know.
Did you enjoy Michael's winning?
[N] This is Tony.
Right behind you here is Kathy's husband.
Hi, baby.
Hi.
A couple of, about two or three months ago,
about two or three months ago,
we got a call from Ronnie McDowell.
Everybody knows Ronnie McDowell?
Yeah, the singer.
Greg singer.
And he's an artist.
And he told me that he painted a special picture of our dad.
And he wanted us to [Eb] come to the unveiling.
And you never know when [F] somebody's going to do something like that
how good it's going to really turn out.
You know, [Gb] you think, well, I hope this is [Eb] nice
because you don't know what your [N] comment's going to be
if it's not real good.
Thank goodness it was beautiful.
But when he pulled that veil off
and he told us that he wanted us to see the image that came to him
when he was doing dad's painting about his life,
it was amazing.
The thing in person is just beautiful.
[Eb] And he had a reproduction done,
and we wanted to present it to you tonight.
And we do [F] have some copies over here at the table.
But we wanted [B] to have you one.
Ronnie actually had [Bb] it framed for you today.
And he couldn't come [Eb] because he's working tonight.
But we wanted to present it to you,
and we can put it in the museum so that everybody can enjoy it.
Well, let everybody [Bbm] see it.
[G] [C] Oh, [Ebm] wow.
Looking in the mirror, and it's all the images.
And he's looking at it, turning it around,
and [Bb] letting everybody see that.
Isn't [N] that great?
Isn't that great?
All right.
The title of the painting, he names all his paintings,
but the title is called The Image of Me.
And if you can see, Tony, turn it [F] around, it's dad.
Oh, he's looking at himself.
Yeah, [Bb] he's looking into the mirror at his past,
back when he was a young [N] man, obviously, in the rock and roll years.
But we just thought it was beautiful, and we wanted to share it with everyone.
And we wanted Miss Loretta to have a copy.
We love you, darling.
Who [C] will be the microphones [Eb] tonight?
I don't know, darling.
I didn't do it.
I promise you.
And I [Gb] wanted to say something.
My hair is just a strange color.
Your hair is beautiful.
[Db] This is what's left over from the fashion I was doing.
You know, I used to [Bbm] travel out on the road with Dad when I was little girl,
[E] and y'all were [Bb] singing together.
I got to ride on your [N] bus, and we got to play in the makeup.
We did.
It was lots of fun.
The only thing that [G] Daddy, the problem Daddy had about it was that
Ernest [Eb] Ray was on the bus.
And he would say, where's Candy?
I said, where's Ernest Ray?
Of course, I was way up with Ernest Ray.
But anyway, I just wanted to say [N] something.
We were all way down, but
I wanted to say something, because Loretta has talked so [Bb] highly about Daddy.
[Eb] But I wanted y'all to know how Daddy felt about Loretta.
[Bb] He loved her with all his heart.
They were the best of friends.
[N]
It was more than a friendship.
It was a soul connection.
It remains a soul connection.
And God put Loretta in the hospital with Moonie was [B] in the hospital
when Daddy collapsed.
[D] And after Daddy had passed, Joni and I [Eb] were still in the room with him.
And we looked up, and Loretta walked in.
And it was one of the most precious moments that I've ever witnessed in my life.
The love that she had as she said goodbye to [C] Daddy.
She would have been [B] so touched.
[Bb] [Eb]
But he loves her, and he loves her still.
[N] And someday when Loretta steps into heaven, his arms are going to open up,
and you know what he's going to say.
Hello, Daddy.
