[B] Every year about this time, as the trees begin to take on their beautiful little green leaves,
flowers begin to bud.
I often think about a conversation
[E] with a young lady not so very, very long ago.
[B]
She said to me one afternoon, said, Robert Willingham, you don't really know how blessed you are, a giving mother.
One who can talk to you every once in a while.
[E] She said to me, you don't really miss your mother until the very day that she's gone.
[B]
She said to me, every year about this time, my [Abm] mind [Gm]
[B] goes back on Mother's Day.
And I think about so many people who are able to have a red rose.
Many of them have to put on a white robe like mine.
[E]
She said, but just take my time.
Every Mother's Day since [B] Mama been gone.
And I go out to my old graveyard with
[Abm] that old [B] sweet mother of mine late.
And I take my white robe in one hand and my little white face in another.
Kneel down beside my mother's grave.
[E]
Down there where they run Mother's Day morning.
[B] Said I noticed on the side of the grave that there was a little red rose,
growing up on the side of my mother's grave.
She said, when I saw this, glory to God, this made me think about what to preach at the funeral that afternoon.
She said, if she died [E] in Jesus, if she died believing that God is with me, she's not dead.
[B] She's just asleep.
By that time the tears began to cover the lady's eyes.
I told her there's no use to worry and it ain't no use to cry.
God will fix things all right for you.
And he'll bring you together one of these [Abm] days in the street [B] by and by.
[E] And that lady put a smile on her face and she looked out towards the [B] grave.
Glory to God.
And I heard her when she said these words, sleep.
And take your rest.
[E] [B] [E]

She said, I love you.
I love you.
